Which harnes to use?

Just getting my swap started & I have a little wiring question. I have two harness's, one is off the 2000 3.4 auto that I'm swapping in & has been cut in a few places by the wrecking yard , another is off a 97 3.4 manual that I parted out. I have another m/t computer that has the same plugs as the 2000 harness, as the 97 ones are WAY different. Shoud I swap the wiring over the to 97 harness & computer? And are all the sensors etc. the same between the motors?

man we should have talked about oh 2 weeks ago!! I had the harness you need and you have the harness I needed!!! Ya the plugs are way different huh. I ended up getting the plugs for my 97 ecu and then compared diagrams between the 99 harness I had and the 97 ecu. Then spliced every single wire. It was crazy. I suspect the 97 harness will be close, but I did notice I have extra wires for things like the theft stuff, and a couple other things. So looking at the diagram here real quick, my 97 harness should be missing:

1. C16 - Security Indicator Lamp
2. C11 - Unlock Warning Switch
3. C4, C5, C10 - Transponder Key Amplifier
4. B9 - Power Steering Oil Pressure Switch

5. 4wd wiring different.

Actually the EWD also states the first 3 are all if you have the theft deterrent system. So the only one that you wouldn't have is the power steering switch, Which I believe is to idle up the motor when the pump is under load? hmm actually the harness may work if you get the plugs for your 2000 ecm.

Somebody else chime in here, but there isn't any reason other than I am seeing power steering differences, 4wd wiring a little different.

Are you keeping it auto, or manual.

oh I almost forgot too. the camshaft and crankshaft sensors are wired a little different. so you will need to mess with that possibly.

Also the Mass Air Flow Meter IS pinned differently between the 97 and 2000. Guaranteed the motor will run like piss if you don't change the pins at the MAF plug. Don't ask how I know hehe.

Keeping my 89 a manual. Swapping cam sensors etc is no problem as I still have both the 2000 motor I'm using and the 97 Motor from the runner I parted out so I have all the parts off the 97 motor to rob if I need them.

well the sensors I bet are the same. But somewhere in the wiring the ground wire for one of the sensors connects to the ground of the other, instead of both grounds going to the ecu like in the 97.
