Is the EVAP Box necessary?

Im trying to figure out the vacum lines on my 00' donor motor in my 93 truck. I live in washington with no emission bs so just trying to run the bare bones. Do you have to have the evap box ? I have the vsv's...and will just use the 3.0 charcoal canister. Anyone have some good pictures or diagrams of where vacum lines go and ones that can be capped ? Thanks

Not sure if it's actually "necessary" but it's there to prevent the gas tank from venting directly to the open air, and allowing gas to evaporate out of your gas tank.

Take a look at this post from Elvota's thread, this looks to be the answer to using the 3.0 evap canister with a 3.4: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f160...l#post50685251

I don't run an evap can. I just pinched off the hard line that runs to it. I drilled a small hole in my gas cap to vent it. I've only thrown the EVAP code once. It always stays as a "pending" code and really never trips the MIL.

So if the box is not necessary, where do the lines run off the vsv's. If someone had a close up picture or could take one of their setup and possibly highlight the vacum lines, id really appreciate it. Also if their using the stock 3.0 canister, where do those lines go...ive looked at elvotas... Also is the stock black box on the intake tubing necessary or can you just cap most of the vacum ports on the intake...? Thanks for any help. This is where im at...

i went by this diagram using the original 4 cyl vap can with all the 3.4 vsv's so it's like it's suppose to be from the factory.

you can see a little in the short video, link in my sig.

I used this diagram almost exactly only just left out the canister. I have not thrown any codes, truck runs great and just passed smog here in Nevada.

One of you guys want to get rid of your evap box if you're not going to use it?

I do need it in california and one of my mounts is busted on the donor I just bought.

Just like this.

I have to go through emissions here in Nevada, but as long as the truck doesn't through a code they don't seem to care. They just passed mine last month with an air compressor in place of the evap box
