I think depending on what you changed. I just told them that I swapped the engine.
My gas tank was moved from the side of the truck to where the spare tire carrier used to be. The ref. didn't mentioned that or the fact that I have the exhause dump to the driver side.
The interesting thing was that he was telling me another guy who had a Subaru with Mustang filler neck. He failed him. I think the less you talk, the better. Let him do the work.

Yes, speak less and maybe distract him with compliments and then questions on ''HOW DO you keep up with all the things you have to remember, Guru-Ref?" hahaha.

How's it going for ya? Loving the power change? Gonna eventually do a SC add on? Just curious what you're planning, if anything else and how much you're 'LOVIN IT'! ? haha.

At this point, I'm still working the kinks out...like backup light.
I want to regear it back to 4.56. 65-70mph at 3K in 5th gear is not going to save me any gas. The install kit and ring & pinion for the reversed cut high pinion is not cheap...like 500.00 atleast. I have the ring and pinion for the rear. The install kit for that is also about 200. I might do the rear first then do the front in a few months. I won't be able to put in 4x4 till I do the front. I want to lower my rpm for the frwy some.

I don't need SC. I got plenty of power.
I fixed the back-up lights this aftn. It's working now.
Apparently, when I looked at the pin number in the picture of the connectors, I got these backwards........DUH!

Hey, Thanks. I'm using the K&N right now. That Downey would've been nice if I have "4runner" engine cause the ref would make me go get the T100 CARB label from Downey Offroad which is out of business.
I'm actually have this idea of getting a blown 96-98 $runner from CL and swap engine so my son can have something to drive. .....if he ever study the handbook and pass the test.

I saw one a month ago for 900.00. Even if I don't have time to do myself, there's an ads on CL for 3.4 engine swap for 1800. It's still a good deal to me.

There's a few good deals on Toy off road stuff's/CL right now.. Nothing I can use, of course, haha. Even saw a 60" E-locker 4.88 rear with 3" Allpro leaf packs, etc., etc. ... 900$.

What's your boy wanting to get for his first vehicle? 3rd Gen 4Runner?

He actually wanted a 280Z but I told him he needs a reliable vehicle to drive to/from school first. After you get a real job then you can get a 2nd car as a toy.

GREAT standard/advice!

How about a Cressida or something? I'm peeping one out right now... 89 w/123K miles, CLEAN! 1st owner.

Also saw a Turbo Supra with 131 and lots of extra parts to make it 'more of a racer', ... pretty decent prices.

Hahaha... Well... if you're anticipating accidents... can you post up his route each day, .... I'll be sure NOT to hit that part of Torrance hahaha... Jk, jk.... I'm sure he'll do well.. He's not a lead foot that you know of, is he?

Maybe something taller then, eh? 1990's 6Cyl F150 PU? My dad had a 94 Bronco... the thing was pretty solid(do they offer that in a 6cyl? Think so). Well, ... know what I see more of in the truck section of Pick-Your-Part than anything? S10 BLAZERS! hahaha.. You'd have a PART YARD HEAVEN over there, haha. I know... If the yards are full of em... probably a good enough reason NOT to grab one... Cuz then, .... YOU will be picking him up, broken down, every few weeks? hahaha.

Hmmm, well, he'd respect a 2nd Gen 4Runner really well, right?

Well, jk, in parts, obviously^^ ... But honestly excited for him, Anthony! He's a good hearted young man. He's learned from you how much work can go into something you enjoy/respect... He's even helped quite a bit, right?

Around $800-1200. It all depends what you get. Highly recommend buying a full donor vehicle and pulling it apart yourself. You'll save a lot of money and time this way.
