3.4 into Gen 2 swap?

Thanks for all the advice concerning my previous post (Should I stay or should I go?) I don't think that the Supra swap is my cuppatea but I am intrigued by the idea of a 3.4 swap. Any info out there online?

Yah, eh!

Hey,
From what I hear, the 3.4 will bolt right up to the 3.0 engine mounts. Not sure on the transmission though. Seems like I heard somewhere that the 3.4 will bolt up to the 2nd gen's 5spd. You will need a new wiring harness that some one now makes (forget who makes it). Not sure it you need a 3.4 ECU or not. One issue you would have to solve is that the fuel lines and exhaust come in on the opposite sides of the engine. I don't think the fuel line would be much of a problem, but I'm not sure on the exhaust. You may also need a 2 inch body lift.

I'm no pro at this kind of stuff, and that's basically what I have gathered from reading several posts here about it. It would definitely be easier than a supra swap though.

I'll try to find some posts about it later tonight. I'm suppose to be painting the bathroom right now.

Well, have fun.

Take a look over here there are a couple of guys talking about doing it and if you search I'm pretty sure I saw some pics of someone that had done it.

Good luck.

Offroad solutions is in the process of making a conversion kit.
here's the link offroad solutions
Surf their site and you'll notice that 2nd gen 4runner project has the 3.4 in there.

There is a guy in British Columbia who did it and is driving his around as we speak. Corey should chime in with the link since the link I had isn't working. He did a bang up job but chose to rewire his harness into the new computer - looks like spaghetti. I'd buy the Front Range wire harness since that is the painless solution. In his pics the 3.4 fit great and actually looked somewhat small in the 2nd gen engine compartment.

You'll need at least a 1" body lift. The 3.4 and 3.0 are the same family of engines but you'll need the oil pan and oil pickup tube out of a 3.4 that was in a T100 for the easiest fit. If not you can reuse your 3.0 pan and pickup.

Yeah. Here's the link to that BC guy's post about the swap.

I don't think he's done a write-up about it yet with all the details but lately he's been talking about the look on the driver's face (2003 Ford F150) as he passed them going 140K up a moutain.

Sounds like a good swap for sure.

It looks like his site is down. As far as I know this was the first person to actually document the work in progress and then show the results.

BC 4x4 works but the link in Dave Gio's site is down. In his sig it says his computer got stolen with his tools and now no site to serve it off of. What a drag - he did an awesome job of documenting his work and taking tons of pics.

This pic shows how nice the engine fits. I don't know how much body lift (if any) he is running:

Oh you're talking about his site! I haven't checked it out yet.

I'm pretty sure he has at least a 2" body lift, which supposedly helps the installation.

And look at this mess of a harness. Get the one that is premade and save yourself a headache.

There was a great pic on his site of about twice as many wires on the passenger floor that he was splicing. It was a horrible mess.
