Got custom sliders for $150!!! (pics)

I finally got sliders!!
I found out that my co-worker's husband does fab work out of his garage... So I asked him if he could fab me up some sliders, and here are the results.... and for $150

the main rail and the struts that connect to the frame are 1.75" tube and the kickout and two middle pieces are 1.5" tube, plus he made them so I didn't have to trim my pinch welds

Here is a shot of the weld quality

if anyone want's work done, the guy said he was up for more projects.. PM me if you want his number.

Let him know if he wants to make another set, he has a buyer

It was a joke. Those are clones of Richard Stubbs' sliders. I can't even tell the difference!

(Why can't I embed images anymore?)

not quite.. stubbs has more of a 45* angle on the kickouts and Jeff's is more a 90* and stubb's center posts are closer together..

but whatever.. these are one offs so I guess it doesn't really matter.

Just to clarify, my comments were more "compliment oriented" than anything. Besides, what do I care, mine were free.

You mean you stole a set of sliders...

$150 would barely cover the cost of the materials. A 20' stick of 1.75" DOM is $95 here in ABQ and I would expect it's more $ in CA, good find!

My comment was directed toward the original poster, "at $150, he didn't buy them, he stole them"...get it?

Sometimes it's hard to translate sarcasm on these boards...

Awesome! $150 huh? I'm in Cali too but I'm about 4 hours away. It would be nice trip to come pick them up rather than you having to ship them. Could he also install them to? I heard it was illegal her in California to weld to the frame, so the only way is to get a private party to do it, but I don't know anyone who would/could. Is this guy willing to do a few intalls? Either way, I'm very interested!

HEy mikronized, those look great. Is he in San luis abispo as well? I'm down near L.A. For $150, I would be willing to drive up and get them installed. (did he do the installation as well?) If he would be interested in making a set for my 3rd gen and if he would be willing to install it as well, tell him he has another buyer.-thanks

I'd be interested if he can do three things: 1.) make them for a 1st gen. 2.) make them to be bolted on in like 8 places each, not welded. 3.) ship them across the United States for me. I don't ask for much, huh?

Sunday,

Where did you hear that? I dont think so, else eveyrone i know here in CA will be getting tickets soon!

Mikronized: looks great! I love the look of your truck, period. Those MTRs are the best and now w/ the sliders, the look is complete.

See you at Pismo!

Also, and not to be a big party poop, but is your co-worker's husband doing this "on the side" or is he a legitimate business? Website?

Bob
