98 4Runner motor in 97 T100?

I just dropped a 98 4 Runner motor into my 97 T100 and all looks good except for a difference in the oil pan shape and oil pickup type. The T100 oil pan was shaped to fit around the front differential and cross bar but the 4 Runner Oil pan was very deep and wouldn't fit. I put the T100 oil pan and oil pickup onto the 4 Runner motor but am not sure which dipstick I should use (neither of them seem to fit very well). Anyone else experienced this or know why there are such differences between the oil pans on the T100s and 4 Runners. I always thought the 4 Runners were basically a T100 frame and drivetrain with a different body. Thanks.

So the 3.4L blocks that they used for the 96-99(maybe 98) had two oil dipstick holes. One in the front, for 4runners, and one half way back of the block, for T100 (and swaps). There should be a plug in your motor about halfway back the driver's side of the block. Looks like a guide hole but isn't. If you remove the dipstick guide from the front, much easier if the engine is out, and place a new one (toyota part number somewhere in the forums) in the other hole, you should be able to use a stock T100 dipstick.

Thanks for the info. Any idea how to get the existing plug out in order to insert the T100 dipstick guide and if I'll need to plug the current 4 Runner dipstick guide hole or just leave the dipstick guide in?

I try really, really hard not to be an ass and tell everyone one to search but c'mon man.........this is 3.4 swap 101. I highly suggest you read a few threads that people have posted with a completed swap. It will really help you out. I think that your question has been covered 1000 times and in almost every thread where someone has documented the whole process.

I'll give you a fish

Thanks for the help. As a newbie to Toyota's and this forum, and an electrical guy. I appreciate the fish! I'll search the forum to see what I can find too.
