What kind of solder for electrical

I'm wondering what kind of solder is used on electrical connections.

I haven't found a clear answer anywhere but will lead free solder work just as good as the 60% lead solder that is made just for electrical.

Unless you have a special, purpose built, lead-free soldering iron (needed for commercial applications that need to meet RoHS compliance) do not use lead free solder. The operating temp of the lead free stuff is up around 700-800*C, most non-lead free soldering irons cannot get that hot.

Go to radio shack (or wherever) and pick up a roll of lead/tin solder for $10-15, and use the iron you already have (or can pick up for around $30 for a cheapo)

Ive already done some with the lead free stuff just because thats what i had laying around. I used a lighter to heat it to get it hot enough. It seemed to work for me. I guess the led/tin is just easier to work with from having a lower melting point.
