I forgot if you have auto or stick but the 2nd gen 5spd trans got the slave cylinder right where the 3.4 stock exhaust comes out.

Unless you are completely building your crossover/exhaust from scratch, do a remote locate of the slave, or go to an auto, you are going to have to dump the exhaust on the driver's side.

I think that you really need to spend an afternoon reading threads because honestly, just about every question you ask has been gone over countless times. I am not trying to be a jerk here but trying to help you. Eventually you are going to have to know what to do BEFORE you get to it rather than constantly reacting.

Found out kinda how to post pics. Thanks for those links. Reading most of the day. I get my flywheel bolts and crossover pipe tomorrow. Modify the pipe the other way and put the flywheel,clutch etc on and drop it in.

 

Well got everything all ready except the exhaust! Did some wiring stuff too,it's not too bad. Anyway I went to put the crossover on to start modifying it and I have 2001 exhaust manifolds so they are completely different than the older ones. My question is do I get the 96-00 manifolds or the 2001 and newer cross pipe? The 01 and newer go into a single pipe so I maybe could get it to fit on the passenger side then go under the tranny but I'm not sure, anyone done this? I have only read about the older pipes but found nothing about newer. Thanks

 

Never done it but I would think that getting ahold of a set of older manifolds would be easier than a newer crossover. In the end, it should be the same essentially.

 

Yes, thanks. Got a set if the older ones and putting them on and the engine in tomorrow. I have a 97 harness and 2000 ecu, can I repin the harness where it goes into the ecu like everyone has done auto to manual? I know I can but will it work correctly? I have seen something like it in threads but not the same thing exactly. So just wondering specific.

 

At least, mark the pins number and connector ( E5, E6..) on the wires before taking them out of the connectors. This way, you know which wire is which on the 97 so you can put them in the right position for 2003 ECU connectors. It's best if you can write down the actual wire name...like Oil, or G1....

Yes. I ordered the connectors, they will be here tues. That's all I have left is repinning those ecu clips. Everything done pretty much. Also the tach mod. Thanks for the input. I'm going to try and see if it works

 

Engine is in all set. Alternator is hooked up and looks good, fan, radiator, throttle cable and cruise, everything. ALL i have left is the power steering. I have the complete setup from the 3.0 but only the bracket from the 3.4. Do i need to fork out the money for a whole pump setup for the 3.4? becuase thats all i have seen people doing so i assume i can use anything from the 3.0 setup except the lines maybe? Just wanted to try to work with what i had.

 

hey guys quick question. I'm doing the swap too and was wandering if I could use 3.0 clutch on 3.4 motor and if so how would I go about it.

I repined the majority of the harness for the 2000 Tacoma but was wondering one thing. When a wire comes off the harness ecu then tees into 2 wires and tees once more how do I know where to pin it in the new connectors? Or are all of those just grounds for the sensors? There are 2 wires like that. They just keep t-ing and end up on 5 different sensors. That's my last thing on that parts.

 

PLEASE!! i need help! i repinned the ecu connecters. I am trying now to do the dash to engine harness and have no idea what each wire from the dash does. I bought tis for 48 hours and cant find them on there anywhere either. I have the info on the 3.4 engine to dash plugs, i know what every wire does there but cannot fine the one coming from my dash. The 2 connectore dash to engine! i have a 1991 toyota extra cab, 3.0 manual. please help or tell me what to look for on tis.

On my 91 4Runner, the 3.0 dash harnesses were "IH1" and "IH2" but I know that I've seen threads where "IH1" and "IH2" referred to other connectors for different years and different models.

A quick and easy check, look at the EWD for your 3.0L engine control, there should be a B-G (black-green) going from the EFI fuse to the "BATT" terminal of the 3.0L ECU (or TCCS ECU as its called in the EWD). There should be a small rectangular box in the B-G line with some letters inside of it and a number outside of it; the letters are the connector name (for me it is "IH1") and the number is the pin number in that connector (for me it was 10, pin 10). Look for all instances of connectors with a similar name; in my case "IH1" and "IH2."

The picture of the actual connector may not be in the Engine Control PDF, but rather in the Power Source Network -> Electrical Wiring Routing -> connecto.pdf. (This is a great example of why its best to download EVERYTHING that TIS offers, not just the sections that you think you will need.)
