Transmission dip stick?
Just brought a 2004runner SE V8 and realize I can't find the tranny fluid level dip stick and my friend had a V6 his is located near the engine oil dip stick. Anyone have a idea of where I can find that?

In the 2004 model year, Toyota changed the fluid in the AT to a "WS" extended wear fluid. It is intended to never be changed or checked. Sounds strange, but here is the TSB that describes it.

Thank you soooo much for this valueable information. I had contact 2 toyota service department for past few days. There technichans told me the same thing ----- As long as there is no leak in the system, there will be no need to check the fluid level. But I was haveing a doubt about that. Now the answer is right in front of me....... :pat:
Thanks again here for help me find the answer.

That's ridiculous, tranny fluid should be measured to make sure you have a correct level in there. Where is the fill plug on the tranny? If it's on the side of the housing, it might be just the same as a differential, where you unscrew the plug and feel if the level is up to the bottom of the plug hole.

There is no fill for V-8's sealed unit. One of the reasons why I did not buy V-8 is that "sealed" transmission.

What does the auto industry, especially Toyota, know about building stuff that lasts.
