Hello guys,

Since last week I swim into a mud hole I hear a noise coming from the front passenger wheel sometimes, specially when backing up in the parking.

I've recorded the noise with the digicam. Can you say me if is the wheel bearing or what?

The noise appears whith the Aisins in both positions, so I have discarted the CV's.

no it sounds like there is something in between the rotor and splash sheild for the front brakes remove the wheel and check really good behind the rotor.

 

Before recording the video I taked the wheel apart and washed all the dried mud with a pessured water gun. I don't see any dirt in the rotor and it's flat not scratched... I'm a little confused, I think I washed it well...

Whoa - whatever it is it don't sound good. I assume it makes the same noise if you spin the rotor with the wheel off? If so, I'd think perhaps a rock or something made it past the seal into the bearing area --- but it sure kinda ounds like somethin' rubbin on the dust cover. With that sort of noise I'd just take it apart & have a looksy (i.e. remove rotor & all and check it out). Definitely can't be good to continue runnin' it like that.

 

Yeah, the sound is the same with the wheel off. I recorded if just after remounting the wheel after pressure washing all the suspension and brake components.

I'll take it appart another time and look under. I thought there was a bearing because the noise comes from the CV area near the rotor, seems where the CV boot is, but I discarted the CV because it makes noise in "Free" and "Lock".

did you check the brake pad area around the caliper?

 

Well, I've not removed the bracke pad but I sprayed it with pressured water and left it shining... The rotor isn't scratched

I'll take the wheel apart and inspect it very very well...

It's definitely on the rotor (it has that 'something rubbing on the rotor' sound. I'd try removing the brake caliper (if you have'nt already) & taking a look inside of it for any foriegn matter & take a look at the back side of the rotor for damage also.
It could just be that you managed to bend one of the "wear indicators" on one of the pads into the rotor, but it sounds somewhat worse than that, good luck.

 

Thanks 94x4. I haven't been able to unmount it yet, I'm all the time working...

My rotors are still the stock ones, the truck has +177k miles and they've never been worn. I'll try to inspect it this weekend, if customers let me!

The good part of working so much is that now I'm able to buy all the materials to install my carputer for my 4Puter project hehe.

PS: The noise only appears when going reverse

 

The calipers are not loose, are they??
Check everything like suggested in the post when you get the chance & there's never been anything wrong with making money, how else are ya gonna support your 'yota habit.

PS: Someone has a double DIN centre dash piece to sell me? European 4Runners have only one DIN socket and the dealer wants 90€ + VAT (109$) for the american part. It only a ˟˟˟˟˟*ng piece of black plastic! I would integrate the touch screen in that.

 

I inspected another time the rotor and so.

I found a little stone between the rotor and the dust cover. The other time I look at it wasn't there where I can see it. I had to bend a little the dust cover with a screwdriver to get the stone out.

Now my wheel doesn't make any noises

Glad to hear that it was something as simple as a little "foriegn matter" (a little stone), and that you're back up and wheeling noise free.
