gahhhh! rebuild woes!!

mmannn this is taking way longer than expected. the machine shop kept the drive spline and my woodruff keys and have since tossed them prompting me to go swipe some off a j-yard donor. An exhaust stud stripped head threads, and the camshaft clamp holes ( anyone know what im talking about?) were all stripped, so a whole bunch of heli-coling was involved. got an oversized oil pump seal for my harmonic balancer because a groove was in there, TONS of bolts missing, so having to get new ones. AND...and..the worst of all? i dont have a freakin clue where any of these stupid brackets on the block go:pat: . But everythings coming along, and all i have to do left is figure out the bracket placement. Any of you mind taking some digi-shots of your engine blocks, on the sides? i need shots of below the distributor on the driver side, and below the intake manifold on the passanger side. any help would be so very much appreciated. because im stuck. ive been scouring the 'net for upwards of 3 hours now, finding alot of engine bay pics, but i cant see past the distributor. the best pic i found is somewwhat helpful, but at the same time not...here . again. thanks in advance for any help.

What engine?

What engine do you want pics of? Was that a 22r you linked to? I've got a 3.0 and can take pics tonight if that will help.

bracket help

the bracket with the slot cut in it is for the alternator. it goes rite below the cylinder head on the drivers side. it goes threw the timig cover into the block. the one that looks like a Y with holes drilled in it is for the power steering. it goes from the pump to the block behind the alternator by the pan. you dont really need this one its a pain to put on. you can just bolt the pump on with the 4 bolts that attach to the head and it'll work just fine. i've been running my trucks like that for years without a problem. the one that looks like a pipe with 2 flat ends with holes goes from were upper and lower intake bolt together to by the motor mount. it's just a brace to help support the weight. HOPE THAT HELPS YOU OUT let me know if you have any other questions i mite be able to help.

If you need any more small parts let me know, I've got a blown 22re torn down that I'm about ready to part out. If I can make it home before dark tomorrow I'll see if I can snap some pics for ya.

man, thatd be so great. right now my problem is finding out the location of the fuel filter, and all the intake hosing. im not sure just *how* torn apart your 22re is, hopefully the intake is still intact. any pics of that side of the engine would help me out alot. thanks!

The torn down one is the old engine, I have a running motor in my truck. The fuel filter is located under the intake towards the rear half of the block, though some people have relocated it to the inner fender for easier access. As far as the "intake hosing" do you mean the vacuum lines?

[disclaimer: pics are full res to retain detail (ie BIG 615-1133kB) and somewhat grainy because I had to use ISO 400 in order to get semi-clear shots]

Right side of block, A/C bracket mounts to holes above black ground cable near timing cover.

Fuel filter, viewed from front of engine under intake.

Fuel filter, viewed from above between 1/2 and 3/4 intake runners.

Stripped block with fuel filter in approximate location, A bracket bolts to the two holes above the filter and then the filter bolts to the bracket.

Block without filter, knock sensor goes in larger shiny hole between oil filter and fuel filter.

Accessory brackets. looking up from below under alternator.

Power steering brackets

Another view from above

Entire engine bay

Hope these are of some help, wasn't able to get any real good straight-on shots of the brackets. If you want pics of anything else just let me know.

yeah, I mean vacuum diagrams, but I have that figured out now. The problem now is a certain green male pigtail off of the wiring on the intake side. It is the exact same as the injector connectors, only green, not beige. Any clues? Also, the electrical male wire coming off of the starter. I dont know what wire fromt he same wire pack as the injectors and such go to it.

the green plug goes to the front of the lower intake. there are 2 sensors side by side close to thermostat housing. the one is the lite brown plug and the other one is the green one

Another possibility, I have a light green connector bundled with a couple others down next to the starter, is this where your's is? If so I believe it's for auto trannies and won't be connected unless that's what you have. That's the way mine is anyways.

The starter one, if I remember correctly is the same style as the oil pressure sender. Best bet on that is to take a test light or DVM and see which one has 12v+ when you turn the key to start.

TPD, I have those hooked up correctly. Its actually the one Shane mentioned. The problem is, I have an auto tranny. And I still cant figure out where it goes. As for the starter, I dont have an extra wire from the bundle available, I just have an extra wire *out* of the starter. So if I need to run a new wire for that male socket, anyone know where to run the wire from, that will plug into the starter. But my Haynes manual doesnt help with anything. As a matter of fact, theres no illustrations for starter removal/installation. just descriptions. BUMMER! Ok, thanks!
