Dupont Teflon Car Wax?

I did a search on this one, but I guess since its so new there's no topics on it yet. Anyone use Dupont Teflon Car wax before? Supposedly you can just rinse dirt and dust off of it. I put some on my hood last night, and it really brings out a nice shine, a lot better looking than the mothers wax I used. Ill have to see how easily I can clean it though.

There may be a little teflon in it, but since teflon doesn't stick to anything very well I doubt it is going to stay on the paint any longer than the wax or silicone it is mixed with. Both wax and silicone do a good job of repeling stuff so who knows what is doing what.

A company in San Diego in the 80's was selling a Teflon coating they claimed would last for years because they would apply it with high speed buffing wheels and melt it into the paint. I think it was just an over-priced detailing job.

I know it does have silicone in it so your right there and silicone is pretty durable, right? At least I know that when you use silicone caulk, its a pita to get off of anything, lol, i dont think its the same though

I've been using Meguire's professional yellow wax #26 (a mix of carnuba wax and silicones) for 12 years on this truck: http://community.webshots.com/photo/...58716207TAdDEe and it's still shinny.

I had a bottle of Turtle was w/ Teflon. It worked just like any other wax and didn't seem to be any different that I noticed.

I got a regular bottle of Turtle wax right now and that works just as well.

A bodyshop manager I know was raving about it and he told me he got it at Walmart too, but I couldn't find it. Is it a liquid or paste?

It actually comes in both.

It is the most durable, best shine wax I've ever used. Since it is synthetic it lasts much longer than standard carnuba. Just give it a try and you won't be sorry!!

Cool thanks, I'll try the paste if I can find it locally.

There was an article that was floating around that said the teflon in the 3M products and dupont products DO NOTHING. Teflon is adhered to pans at extremely high temperatures, there is no way teflon will adhere to your truck by just waxing it on. If you read the fine print on the bottles theres a disclaimer saying the teflon does nothing. Check the bottle. For real.

well i have to say, this stuff is a PITA to buff off. But after two coats it lasts forever, way longer than any other wax I have used. (i did half my hood with this, and the other half with mothers/meguires, two coats of everything.) Last night I washed my truck with dawn, and Im gonna finish the first coat of dupont, and put on the second coat tonight. It really does let dirt wash right off, works great on pollen too!
