Considering exhaust mod

Okay, my exhaust system from downpipe to tailpipe looks and sounds pretty much shot(1989, 22RE). However, my vehicle runs fine and gets great economy in town but terrible economy on the highway. Yes, the HIGHWAY!(could be because of rear end ratio) I am considering purchasing the street header from LC engineering(Part# 14-4113), they're proflow exhaust(Part# 14-86300), and catalytic converter(unless i can go without it and eliminate the o2 sensor also.

They dont have prices on the website but Im assuming this is an expensive investment. Im wondering if any of you have upgraded they're exhaust systems and is it really worth the money? honest feelings on this one, please. for i am VEEEEEERY broke and almost up ˟˟˟˟˟ creek without a paddle and my boat is sinking!

take out the o2 sensor and your be in for it, truck wont run at all, the ecu uses that lil device not as a device for pollution as much as for a device to decide the air fuel mixture (as well as engine temp and stuff like that is taken into consideration) but i would remove the cat, has no use but you will notice a stronger smelling exhaust, actually mine stunk. so i plan on putting it back in cause it didnt help all that much, i would suggest going with a free flowing cat, i would but dont have the money,.

didnt see that you were on the same creek as me! i wouldnt do the exaust stuff if i were you, BUT. if you want more power, what you said will net it, what i did with my exhaust before i went custom was got a header from a junkyard, 35 bucks, and stock header to cat pipe, then welded on a glasspack. worked well for me! pretty cheap to, under 100 dollars,

my cat was gutted and I put on a 40 series flowmaster awsome sound but poor performance it bogs a lil and the powerband is not as strong with the cat gutted I would recomend a freeflow cat and a cat back exhaaust system.

However ˟˟˟˟˟ creek sucks and if your ˟˟˟˟˟ creek is like mine you cant do the free flow and cat back however I would refrain from guting the cat.
