Hi there just bought a clay bar and some wax is it ok to use the clay bar on a 2002? and also is it ok to clay bar then wax then 3 weeks later put a polish on. What product removes scratches or hides them good

Ah, the great wax polish debate yet again! Definitely do a search on wax and/or polish but here's my opinion anyways:

As a former owner of a 99 Black SR5, I will tell you that nothing compares to using Zaino Brother's products at www.zainobros.com.

I purchased just about all the stuff that the guys use here on the boards. Griots, 3M, etc WITH the Corey Cable. Some products worked okay but you and I know that black is a b@#$h to keep swirl and scratch free.

I purchased Zaino a few months ago and finally got around to applying a few coats on my wife's dark green Camry. After the first two coats, I was floored.

Search "Zaino" and you will see the pics of my wife's Camry. Save yourself the time and just get the Zaino stuff.

Oh, in answer to your question: can't put polish on top of wax. At least that's what I've been taught. First clay, then a few coats of polish, then wax to seal it all up.

Finally, buy a good lambs wool wash mitt (I got mine at Griots) or a boar's hair brush (expensive). Those synthetic mitts were the worst on the black paint.

Did you by any chance purchase your Zaino from a local vendor in So Cali?
I cant seem to find any, looks as though everyone orders it from the website itself.

Yeah, I ordered from the website...actually talked to Sal himself.

I asked him for distributor information (to become one) but he says he is in the process of re-working his distribution strategy. He has a one or two distributors in CA. I believe there is one guy out of Anaheim.

Dragon: you won't be disappointed. The product goes on really easy, easy to work with (provided you don't slop it on), and does a great job on dark paint. Oh, make sure you buy good 100% cotton US made cotton towels. It does make a difference.

Zaino is absolutely amazing. My second kit is on the way with the clay bar. I am going to clay my 4Runner and then apply a couple more coats of Zaino and see just how awesome claying is. Try this stuff. It is the best I have ever used.

Philly:

I purchased:

Z-1 Show Car Polish LOK Pre-Cleaner and Gloss Enhancer
Z-2 Show Car Polish for Clear Coated Finishes
Z-5 Polish for Swirl Marks & Fine Scratches
Z-6 Ultra Clean "Gloss Enhancer" Spray
Z-7 Show Car Wash

Basically you wash it w/ Dawn and then clay bar it. I did another wash w/ Dawn cuz I'm anal.

Then you do a "base coat" of the Z1. If you have swirls, then you use the Z5. You will be impressed after just one coat of Z5, trust me. You can do successive coats of Z5 until you are satisfied. I did a total of 2 in one day. Just make sure you put a VERY thin coat. Sal doesn't recommend more than 1 coat per 24 hours or something like that, but others have said what I said re thin coat.

Then you spray it w/ the Z6 Gloss Enhancer spray. Whatever that does, it works.

Then you do a coat of Z2 Polish. And then finish it off w/ the Z6 again.

The following weekend, you can either do the Z2 Polish or if you want to keep getting rid of the swirls (if any left over), do the Z5. The nice thing is is that you can switch back and forth between the two unlike wax/polish.

Sounds tedious? Well, I thought so too, but the product is great to work with. Goes on nice and easy. And its easy to take off too.

Like I said, I bought the Corey Cable, used the Griots, 3M, etc but this definitely works 10x better on dark colors. For light colored vehicles like Corey's, I really think the Zaino stuff is overkill.

Ok, one more time! ....

The product does not degrade easily from the "elements" (i.e. rain, snow, etc)...or so I am told. Its only been on my wife's Camry for less than 2 months. I will say though that it still looks and shines like it did, even after 2 washes w/ the Zaino car wash fluid.

As for easy to take off, after you apply the product onto your vehicle and letting it dry to a haze (just like any polish or wax), it is easy to wipe off with a towel. Some products that I've worked with (3M hand glaze comes to mind) is a bit more difficult to get off. As for the Zaino stuff, it is easy to wipe off w/ the towel.
