Well I have this little shop right down the street that I go in and order it from.....I know that is of no help at all to you.....I would think that any of the car parts store (pep boys, kragen, sears, wal mart) would have one or the abilty to order one....last choice ...the steelership. The kit I get over in Japan is slightly generic and will fit more than one model master cyl...but it is new springs, shafts, seals, and retaining ring to hold it all together....fairly straight forward process to rebuild....drain the fluid out of the cup...dis connect the lines unbolt from the booster can, then the rebuild can begin...I am paying YEN and Japanese prices which are a little higher than the U.S. but I think you still be able to get the kit for $25 or less.....

I have rebuilt them, and replaced them. I say replace it. Far easier. Rebuilding it sucks, even though you learn the inner workings, best leave screwing around with brakes to the pros - especially if you are a noob turning wrenches.

Okay I searched on line and found one at this website for $30.79 wagner part num 112415 www.rockauto.com .......most of the sites that I see want to sell the whole master cyl ....for over a $100 so I would really try hard to find the rebuild kit....if you can not find one let me know .....send me the toyota parts catalog number for your master cyl and I will let you know about getting a rebuild kit from Japan.....

96Runner....I can agree the replace is easier....but from what I just saw on line....you pay well to make it that way....I also feel that if up to the task of replacing then up to the task of rebuilding.....IMHO---it is not that big a step from replace to rebuild.....

I know, but I don't think he is up for the task of either (I mean that in a respectful way). So my point is, just buy the OEM part then have a mechanic that knows what he is doing install it. Labor should not be more than $100.

Thanks, I'll probally be out shopping the local parts store today "if" it does indeed turn out to be that I've screwed up the master cylinder.
Amazing the lengths that one will go to to promote their denial, huh ?
Thanks again, guys, only at "YOTATECH".

You might try a salvage yard too.

Sounds like you need to down load Acrobat reader. Sorry, but it won't let me cut and paste.

O.k., so while I had (have) Adobe 7.0 on my system, I did'nt have it "initialized" (DER!).
So now I've gotten it "turned on" and am able to access the link mt goat, so I'll be into diagnosing and troubleshooting this weekend to a, hopefully, happy end.
"Thank you!" to all of you here at YOTATECH, as always, you rock.
