Air Conditioning Quit

1995 4runner 3.0 2wd auto

a/c was working perfect yesterday. i get in my truck this morning, nothing. blowing warm. after driving truck for 15 mintes, still warm. i turn the a/c button on and off and the a/c clutch engages and disengages, but still nothing. yes, its on cold and circulation

ideas? questions to help clarify? comments?

i wouldnt think it would be a refrigerant leak if it was working GOOD yesterday. You should have noticed it not cooling as well. Unless somehow you got a huge leak and lost it all at once, possible I guess.

As mentioned I would check the belt. Feel around it while its running see if you can hear if anything odd. Feel the lines too for temp change.

ya, belt is still on, and when i turn the switch on and off i can hear it engaged and disengage (mainly by the engine rpm's changing). one more note: when i turn the truck off after the A/C switch has been on for a while, there is a hissing sound coming from the passenger side, sounds like a pressure relief or something. ill feel the lines for a temp change.

i see that alot in homes A/C systems....the little pressure left is equalizing across the system after it is shut down. Check the pressures maybe it is really low.

There is a low pressure cutoff switch located behind the glove box. If that is the cause, a jumper in the connector a tthe switch would make it run, but the real fix would be to have the system topped off with freon.

turns out i had a small leak in one of the main pipes. battery acid corroded it
