22RE crank, rods trashed

Just now getting 22RE short block replaced in my truck ('93 2wd). Apparently the crank was getting oil starved somehow. I never got the oil light on and wasn't ever short of oil.

Dealer says that possibly oil pump was not putting out enough pressure since bearings and channels furthest from oil pump were damaged the most. Oil sensor tested fine. Anyone know of whether there is a problem with a the oil pump pumping enough to keep sensor turned off buy not enough to lubricate engine?

Guess I now know why it's called the idiot light.

I would immaging the oil weight would make more of a difference than pressures since the other bearings were ok. Or maybe its all relative.
