SAS almost done.. finally
A pic of my SAS. Almost done. Still need to address tierod/draglink/pitman clearance issues when suspension is compressed. Need to install shock hoops, add some leaves to front and rear suspension, weld in rear shock mounts, fab square tube driveshaft... still a lot of work to do.

Death Wobble on new SAS rig
I got pretty much everything mounted up. shocks are on, just need to move the steering box and fab up front driveshaft now. Rear height matches the front too. I took it for a test drive and at 30 mph there begins the "Death Wobble" and the truck is uncontrollable and I need to stop and turn around and take it home. Checked wheel bearings, tierod/draglink etc. Found that the front spring bushings are kinda loose. Don't have a steering stabilizer mounted yet. Anyone know where I can get the replacement bushings for the rears up front springs? The original bushing hole was too small to use the bolts in the M-C hanger so I burned them out and used mazda bushings.

Death wobble is a symptom of caster missalignment.
Steering stabalizer will be a bandaid, and likely not eliminate it completely.
Get some shims, and either set caster yourself or have a shop do it. Get rid of the problem completely.

Well I pulled a leaf out of the front spring pack and installed some 6* shims in its place. I was able to test drive the truck. Got to this one curve on the road and it made it without the DW. I was driving down the road at a higher speed 45mph and it was doing great, and then turned down another road and there it goes again. Had to slow way down, and drove it home with no further problems. I am going to install my old steering stabilizer and call it good I think.

I got the steering stabilizer installed today. Fabricated and installed the new square tube (85 CV/94 yoke) after drilling out the flange on the transfercase output to accept the 85 CV flange. Tomorrow I will start on relocating my steering box...once relocated I will call it done until the engine rebuild and gears.

Steering box relocated and flat pitman arm installed. Now all I need to do is get the engine rebuilt and diffs regeared front locker and install, and some 37's.
