Im in the middle of a sas on my 92 pickup. Im using trail gear 5 inch springs front and rear with bilstien 5125 14in shocks. My ? is, how have you guys mounted your rear shocks? I was going to weld new lower shock mounts to my axle and then make a bar going under my bed welded to the inside of my frame to weld the upper shock mounts to. Anybody have any advice on what works best. Please post pics if you got them. Thanks for any help

 

Stock location or / \ it doesn't really matter. 14" is going to be long for the rear I bet.

That's what I was thinking but the guys at trail gear said to go with the 14s in the rear

if your already in there relocating shocks and you have 14's you might as well run the v formation. my rigs got a set up (done by the guy that owned it before me) where he has a bar like you are talking about but its is drilled with holes in multiple locations so you can change the shocks and mount them in a v or in the standard meathod.

How well did the 14's fit? I'm in the process of doing mine /\ with 14's as well on a 2nd gen 4run

 

Haven't put them on yet. Still finishing removing all my ifs crap. The sas will be complete next wknd and ill let ya know.

 

FYI, if you buy/build mounts to attach the shock low on the axle housing, you can stand them up a little more than if you mount them to the top of the top of the housing. Just my $.02.

Here's how I mounted my 14" shocks. I can stuff the rear tire without bottoming out the shock and have lots of shaft left for droop.

 

Anyone have the original rear lower shock mount plates they want to sell? Mine are rusty and I broke the bolts trying to remove the shocks.
