ordered a high pinion front third and as i was completing the order the guy asked if i wanted HD 30 spline axles. i was under the assumption that all front axles had 30 splines. only the IFS axles came with 27 splines? is this correct?

my truck is a v6 89 4runner and my front axle is a 83 axle but i have no clue if it came from a pickup/4runner or v6/I4?

4x4wire said that all pre 85 axles have 30 splines and would accept a HP front thrid drop in style no need for new axle shafts. is this correct?

sfa= 30--- 27 at wheel end
ifs= not 30

 

You can get 30 at the wheel end like Longfields, and change your birfields to 30.

Also the HP ring and pinions can come w/ a 29 spline pinion (Nitro Gear and ?), which requires a 29 spline yoke. I dunno if 29 spline pinions are available for regular cut gears though, maybe.
