Bump stop size
Hello everybody, so far i have learned alot from reading your old threads but now i am to the point on my '86 4runner to put the bump stops. I'm curious as to the size of the stop. I can get 4 and half inch tall bumpstops or 2 and half inch tall ones from low range offroad. This is my first time building a crawler so any advise would be appreciated. Is taller better? Does size matter on this? Which size would you get?
Thanks
Thanks

Use whatever size that will limit your springs from going past flat. So just drive one side of the truck up on a ramp until the springs flatten out and then measure the clearance and size the bump stop off of that.

I run a shorter bumpstop then make a spacer to raise or lower it to the desired height:

Good info 4crawler. I really like the spacer part for sure. I wasn't sure about softness difference between the two sizes. Taller seemed like the way for me but now I see you liked it firmer than rectangle ones you used to use, which is what I was going to get.

I run a taller bumpstop in back:

I need to re-orient it so it is lined up to the axle instead of parallel to the frame rails to help stop if from folding over like above. The taller bump stop will give a more progressive stop as it compresses while a shorter one is more of an abrupt stop.
