birfield question

Im doing a knuckle rebuild and was about to put the drivers side birfield back in when I realized the rotating joint gets stuck really easy, as if its rusted. its packed with grease, and I guess the joint has had its fair share of abuse from the past years (axle is out of an '83). my question is am I going to have to replace the birfield or is there maintenance I could do to prevent its stubbornness? thanks

Well, you might try cleaning the grease out all the way and them either inspect it intact or disassemble the joint and see what is going on. Might be some grit inside or may be something else wrong, but at least you should be able to see what is up.

And really the killer solution is to just upgrade to longfields... That was one of the best upgrades I ever did!
