I figured I redeemed myself by rocking to AC/DC when going through the Tanktrap at Tinkham!

Cool. I've got the CO2 tank and tubing, just have to pick up a couple of fittings and I'll be good to go. I installed the lift 2 weekends ago, and am curious to see how it handles now.

Hell yeah I'll be on the pre-run - counting down the days!

Oh and I too did the 2nd degree thing - borderline 3rd. Medical attention - the whole nine yards. Sucked. I even missed a week of work!

Hey guys,

A sort-of off-topic question- I just went to have my 4runner aligned because of the lift, and they said the outer tie-rod ends on both the left and right sides are frozen, so they couldn't do the alignment. I'm just going to go ahead and replace both the outer and inner, but I'm wondering if I should avoid wheeling with it until they're replaced. I haven't noticed it handling weird, but a failure on the trail would be bad... Do I risk it or wait until everything is kosher again?

that sucks david. i had to get mine re-alligned too. i noticed some uneven wear on the driver's side tire. i guess it was a pretty simple adjustment though. took about 30 mins, if that.

Hrmm, I donno about the differences between the 4Runner and Tacomas, but I think there are only outer tie-rod ends. See the following link:

http://www.jowie.com/content/psboot.aspx

If that looks similar to yours, then it shouldn't be that difficult to remove the outer end and replace it. Adjustment is as simple as loosening the nut shown in step 4, then adjusting it. The last photo of step 11 shows the part that the tie-rod end screws into, minus the PS boot.

If they are just frozen, and can't be adjusted, I would think it should be fine on the trail, since its not a wear related problem. Just might get some abnormal tire wear.

There's not really anything to fail. They are likely talking about where the outer tie-rod connects into the steering rack. Our inner tie-rods are generally considered to be part of the rack. A couple of big wrenches and some home made "Break Free" would likely free them up.
