My experience with lakes so far this year is that they are all at or over capacity. I was at Bullards bar dam by grass valley and it had 0 beach and was at the tree line. Maybe we should call and see what they say about the water level or some other camping spots. There are some developed ones but those suck.
i live in nevada city / grass valley, bullards bar reservoir is pretty dam full lol. next time someone rolls through this area you should get in touch

can we get a head count / car count for everyone thats going? its 4 days away now so its probably best that way no one gets left behind.
I've got 1 4Runner going, with myself and possibly 2-3 buddies of mine. no weapons, too poor for those. got a tent and gear, and a very bald spare tire that still holds air.

gettin very excited, one buddy of mine is flying to the state just to go!

if anyone would like to get in contact, just pm me for my number.

Ive got my rig and myself going, and I will account for 2 other rigs from another forum going. I believe they are solo in their rigs.

So Big O tires is telling me my rig is impossible to align with the parts I have on there. They say my tie rods and ball joints are all shot and have too much play in them, and it will take $800 to fix. Its in my shop right now all torn apart and it looks fine to me, everything is tight and looks fine. Hopefully they were just trying to steal my money and my other mechanic can do the alignment without new parts. But if he says the same thing, then I probably wont be able to make the trip.

alignment shouldn't stop you from going! honestly, with how much you drive your rig, and how much you wheel it the rack and pinion are probably worn to hell. its relatively cheap and easy to fix. You can also replace the tie rod ends and what not as well. should be no problems!

The new lift threw it off bad, just driving it into town to go to Big O was scary as hell, it was all over the road. And I know my KM2's were screaming at me. I would definitely wheel it, but its the drive there on the freeway that would be iffy. Lets just hope it gets alligned...

I'm guessing they are trying to steal money. Matt has a similar lift and he got his aligned.

Matt installed his lift at like 120k miles and 90% of the those were easy freeway miles with zero wheeling.

stockwell wheels, DD and drives his rig everywhere and has like 230k miles? Those Ball joints and tie rods might be a little worn out.

But REGARDLESS a company should NEVER be able to say "oh we just can align it" because thats a piss poor excuse. they can get it RIDICULOUSLY close ( if not perfect ) and still have it driveable... to say thats its not possible is ignorant and pure laziness...

ya theres no way they can say it cant be aligned there probably afraid to be held responsable because of the lift and ware he might have issues getting the camber correct because the UCAs only allow 1" of lift but thats it

There is a hitch in my plans. As of current, I hear from the Forest Service that the water level is still high enough to launch boats. the Ranger was not all that sure but that was the best guess I could get from her. I am currently looking up places to go other then the damn. There is only two campgrounds in the area close to the Reservoir. The group camping require reservations and I was told about cole creek campground which I am guessing is the first come first serve. Both are fee areas. I am also not finding were it is that cole creek campground is.

here is a link to the info. on cole creek campground http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/eldorado/rec.../fishing/cole/

If anyone can find better info. post it up.

At the moment, it still looks like the damn is the meeting location. We may have to later find a spot to stay the night and then meet up with the rest of the group early saturday morning.

Edit

found some more info. Got a map that shows 8n14 finally. The campground does not look easy to find in the real world, so I am open to ideas still. here is a link to the map that shows Cole Creek campground on 8n14 http://www.gentryoffroad.com/php/map...oradoblank.jpg it shows up in Grid G/6

^yes, why don't you guys camp near the trailhead? i also remember quite a bit of land (.25-.5 mile?) between the paved road and the trail gate - like that stretch where we saw the quads/dirtbikes and where keith had his radiator leak.

Someone asked for a head count,

So, I'm in. I will be driving up Saturday morning and meeting the group. It will be myself and a buddy in my Runner.

I will read through the latest posts to find the Saturday morning meeting location and time.

Thanks,

Mike
