Yes there will be a lot of rigs, but I think the only time we are gonna get held up is at the rock garden. The rest of the time we will be slowly chugging along in single file. It should be fun with a group this size

alrighty. lol Stockwell, you get my text? I found out the power loss issue to my truck...

I agree with stockwell. There should be no issue with time restrictions. We won't need to be in any rush as we will have enough time. I know it will take longer to traverse the first half then it did last year. We also will not be starting out so late. I am guessing the over all plan will be to camp at the location just past the rock-garden, where we set camp last year. Lunch should be scheduled to be at this location.
Its a good place for pictures and plenty of room too park all the rigs.
We should have plenty of time for stop to take photo's and the like. In all reality I am expecting this trip to turn out even more fantastic then last years and I am especially excited to meet all the new too me YT members.
With the turn out this year. We may need to start this trip as an Annual Yota Tech Meet Up. What do you all think of this idea?

I think it would be an awesome yotatech annual event. I need to focus on getting my truck running right. I think the cat is clogged, and giving me hell. I have major power loss after 2 hours of driving and the cat glows a faint red at night. anybody got any ideas?

Its a sign that you need to go back to your old system, because it was awesome. get a new aftermarket cat with better flow.

I agree this should be a annual event, kinda early but what time is everyone planning on being up there by?gotta let the 2 others that are following me up know what the plan is so there ready to go, or are we doing a ghostmountain breakfast meet and greet and making a Toyota train all the way there?
Save your money get a 3.4 on a engine stand and mod that lol

Well for my self I will probably not be following keith up there fri the 26th but I will be leaving on the 26th. I do know that he is going to take the hwy 16 to 49 and jumping on to 88 form there and some where in between all that he will gas up some where. For myself I will be taking 50 to pollock pines and gas up there before heading down sly park rd. Any body that wants to tag along behind is welcome to. Just give me the time you think you will be able to meet up and will try to work it out before that day comes up.

yeah exactly, I think matt and I are gonna meet up along with a few other locals and just drive up all together.
But I need to figure out my power loss issue first before i even think about going on this trip. I think its the cat though. I get a random wiff of rotten eggs once and awhile driving. and the powerloss only occurs once ive been driving for a little bit... so it only happens when the truck is at temperature.

Just look up Jackson on google maps, and from there you just take 88 to the bear reservoir turnoff. How many of you plan on actually staying at the reservoir friday night?
Mike - If you cant get that clogged cat fixed by then, you should just cut it off right before you head up, and get it welded back on when you return

^i was gonna say, don't you have a test pipe for running w/o cats?
as for routes to get to the trail, last year i took the hwy 16 -> 49 -> 88 route and it was alright. what i didn't like about it was that you stay in the valley for quite a while (where it's freakin' HOT w/o AC) and then start climbing once you pass through Jackson. On my way home, I think I did the Mormon Emigrant Trail/Iron Mtn. Rd. -> Sly Park -> Pollock Pines/hwy 50 and it seemed a bit better for some reason (maybe because it's slightly less windy - and downhill
). whichever route you take, there's not much gas to be found once you're out of town, so gas up when you see it. personally, i was fine last year on one tank round trip to Sac with my 22re. if someone is heading up the hwy 88 way, we should make sure to stop at the ranger station to get a fire permit and fire road map.
who's got the best mosquito defense recommendations other than commercial deet sprays? i'd bet this year will be just as bad as last year due to all the snow melt
i might play with making some DIY repellents to see what works on the hoards.

the last places to gas up are Pollock Pines and Jackson. As for finding Bear Reservoir, it is easy. Just google it. I will be up at the damn of Bear Res. as early as possible on Friday the 26th. I am sure many of you will be showing up late on Friday and I will meet the rest of you on Saturday.
If the Bear Res. is low enough I will make camp down on the beach. To reach the beach you must go down the boat launch ramp. SEE YOU THERE.

alrighty, I'll google it and find some directions.
anyways, update on the power loss... i pulled the cat and its been driving normal since. so looks like I need a new catalytic converter. gonna snag one online ( for 170 bucks, 50 state legal ) and an o2 sensor. and slap them on for smog/registration

My plan for Friday is to be there at the reservoir by evening if not sooner. All wishful thinking on my part got our Cuz from Modesto riding co-pilot and sp1ck so really filling up my runner this year.

Just started working and get to see the schedule finally so time will still tell. Hey mak92 and other sac-town locals, I would be down to meet up if I can make it, pretty sure my co-pilot knows the way too so if that helps, i'll be going right past Roseville I believe
