I still have vehicle gremlins to work out. Im still getting code 71 and power loss issues. and Im not driving up to squaw dealing with it. being that i've been dealing with this for 2-3 months now, its not looking good since the trip is a month away.

what is code 71?

Mike you can clean your Cat., by soaking it in a bucket with several bottles of seafoam engine treatment. Works great on spark plugs.

then most likely, the issue is your vacuum modulator for the EGR.

vacuum modulator and a faulty TPS. TPS wasn't setting correctly, and was burning excessive amounts of fuel... causing my truck to run rich, and make the cat glow red.

yeah, you really gotta pay attention to those TPS reports
glad to hear that's fixed.

who else is wrenching on their rigs right now?
i need to get my tires clearing a little better before the trip, so that's definitely priority. still rub at full lock/compressed on my firewall and my bumper mount on the driver's side. going to finally try to get some TG rock sliders thrown on and maybe have my rear shock mounts changed to / \ before the trip also.

Thanks man, im pretty relieved.

I wouldn't get the TG sliders though. everyone complains that they're too short. I have comparisons of stubbs welding vs TG 4runner/std cab sliders... mine were 6-8 inches longer, and covered the whole side of the truck.

I have the TG Sliders on my truck, and they are ok. There is probably a few inches at either end that they don't clear, but I think they are designed to allow for different levels of fender trimming, etc. I certainly don't get the impression that I am unprotected with them on.

I'm wrenching on my truck right now. Too. Installing some Front AAL's, clearancing things a little bit more up front, and maybe doing a gear swap if I find time to get it done (gears are sitting in boxes waiting to be installed).

Its always nice wrenching at night when its cooler outside isnt it?

Yeah, I would just rather have the full slider. i love my stubbs welding ones. I'll have to test them at Squaw... with the front/rear lockers i should be able to rock that place.

Yes, it is much nicer to be wrenching when it's cooler outside. Of course, I'm dumb and always end up wrenching in the hottest part of the day *lol*.

As for the sliders, I can get wanting the full coverage. I'm just glad I'm covering my door sills since one of them took a beating the last time I went out, haha.

Glad to see there are people on YT out in my area as well. I was starting to feel like I was the only Off-Roader in the Greater Sac area that didn't strictly live on Pirate, *lol*.

i think i'll be ok - getting them mainly because they're more cost effective for what I want at this time. also going to have them modified a tad anyways so they protect my bedsides/x-cab sheet metal, so I guess I'll have him tie the hoops in a little further back with some extra gusseting for a few more inches of protection. i'm not worried though - i'll just eventually fill up the extra space with bigger tires, right?

sounds good better than spending 400 bucks on sliders from stubbs! lol ( i had a 250 gift certificate ) so it made sense. haha
