should pass ok for me. We are planning 3 camping trips before that so... one might be a little more tame (kinda) i wanna hit up the lava beds either this month or the start of next month. would like to hit it before the ice flows disappear for the season. almost got the new tent narrowed down. i need more info on the Blackpine backup turbo tent. also want more info on the Big Agnes flying diamond. very different designs but if the turbo tent is any where near as nice as the big agnes....

Rattlesnake Bar, Friday

for those interested, my buddy and I are planning on heading over to Rattlesnake Bar on Friday around noon if it's open. i called Folsom SRA office earlier and she said that they just heard from the "Big Boss" today regarding what will be opening on the 1st. According to them, they'll open up Rattlesnake Bar when the water level is at 425ft and the boat launch ramp is under water. As of this morning, the water level is at 423ft and they suspect it should reach 425 by the end of the week after all the rain and snow melt. I'll call them later this week on like Thursday to confirm, but if the area is not open we're going to hit up the twisties instead of going wheeling unless someone else has a suggestion of where to go. Prairie city is out of the question - I don't want that nasty clay mud all over my undercarriage since I'm taking out the Cruiser so I can get rid of some of the nubbies on my tires.

wish I was able to come down Brian.
on a lighter note most of my camp equipment came this week. got a new outhouse and seat, new kid carrier back pack, and 2 new coleman all n one stoves. pretty syced. the new tent should be here the 16th. today I picked up a new jerry can ( and de california- ized it), lantern holder and can now haul 14 gallons of water if need be. also picked up some new bug repellant that i want to try out. will be great for places like Hell Hole lol.
Seems like every weekend there is something new happening. geez, I was supposed to go camping the 16th and our tent will not show before then, changed it to the 23rd and that is my god sons bday so i have to be there, I may have to go camping during the week... The good news, priced the steel for the tire/jerry can holder $60, bushings $25, fabricator $40. dam I need access to a flippin welder

yeah yeah - this weekend was kinda swamped with Easter stuff. i usually have fridays off and most of the Folsom lake areas that were seasonally closed off are opening up today, which is why we wanted to go there. it's a fun little area and is pretty much one of the only places you can get a little bit of wheeling in near sacramento. other than that place, i don't really know of much local wheeling - like where some of the YT guys went out in Foresthill and Placerville areas. i guess i need to just go get me a forest service map and go exploring.

I'm watching this date closely and hoping that I'll make it with a few friends in tow.

Anyone going to try to day trip it or is everyone camping overnight? I'm in Sacramento and pulling an overnighter from the kids and family will be tough. Assuming I have to day trip it, will I be able to find my way to the highway, not having been up there before? Thanks.

we are all planing to camp out there. i dont know if it is possable to get close to 20 rigs through the trail in one day, but we will see. I also dont recomend wheeling alone. it is easy to find the highway again. In may ill keep you all posted on trail conditions.

i agree, that would be one tough day toward the end. keep us posted on what you want to do. it always fun to meet up and wheel a little. this seems to be a pretty big run happening, so im sure you won't want to miss out on it.

p.s. im interested in checking out your long travel.

well that's what Fairy told me yesterday when I saw him at Rattlesnake Bar. maybe the May run you're thinking of is the pre-run.

i wanna see that LT kit too. looks badass.
