^ not necessarily in prep for this trip, but i'm seeing a fabricator this friday to talk about some stuff i want him to build for my truck. he's a friend's cousin so i figure why not give him some business especially if he has a tube bender in his shop. gonna have him start out with some sliders for sure and then think about having him integrate a headache bar into them. this way when i finally decide what to do with my truck in the future, i'll already have the first main bar for an exo cage if i want to go that route. i posted a simple drawing in the fab section if anyone wants to give input. if everything comes out nice, i'll have him fab some more stuff and give him more business. i was just gonna go out and buy a mig welder since i already know how to do simple metal fab, but like everyone else i've got too much stuff on my plate and too little money to build things right now. plus, i'd have to upgrade my garage with more power before even thinking of that. lesson #1: don't sell your tools when you need money, damn college bar funds

well, I have been sick the last few days. but me being me, I could not sit to still for to long so I went and got the vinyl for my back seats and without a sewing machine re upholstered my rear seat. looks pretty good and is a lot easier to wash than the burlap looking cloth that was on there before. still trying to get the welder so I can deal with the cancer on the fenders.

Thats kinda the funny part I am trying to figure out. I found out via expo portal that the early 4runners where shipped with out a rear seat because of taxes and that the rear seat while considered standard was really more of an assumed option. if you look hard enough you can actually find the sheet metal that was shipped with the runner making it a long bed panel truck. who ever designed my particular seat was either trying to save money or needs his head examined. the back is made of a steel frame and plywood with shaped foam. The bottom had to have been remade by someone else because it just aint right. I may actually go back once I get the welder and build the bottom to what i consider correct, or find some SR5 split runner seats. either way thank god the cloth is gone and the mess will be easy to clean up now. no puffs of dust when i through stuff in back lol.
