if you look at the forest service map. You will see the refuge is to the south and east of the trail. The trail its self is the border of the refuge and anything north of the trail is open land. There will be no issues that at all, as long as our activities stay north of the trail.

I get them up here in corning for about $22/ 50. they are high everywhere although ace in mariposa had 250 for like $100. I am buying FMJ ammo as well, not hollow point.what I have been having trouble finding is 22-250 and 30-40Craig. Also on the outs is .44 BP balls and #11 caps for my black powder. I may order up from cabelas or bass pro if I can find the powder pellets I like in the area. cost to dang much to order online with the added shipping taxes.

Hey ive been checking out the trail on google earth now for the past hour. so if we fill up at the nearest gas station, which may be jackson for many of us, we will still have plenty to finish the trail? or should i prepare to carry a jerry can with me?

yes if you fill up in either pollock pines or jackson, you should have enough fuel to get back.

John is correct that he get horrid milage for a yota ( those damn auto's ). so if anyone is auto bring some gas. every one else should be ok.

ehh never been a big fan of black vinyl, I would rather have a wood grain, leather, or camo pattern.

ok got some distances for you all

start of trail to old trade post marker = 10.4 miles

start of trail to mud lake = 16.1 miles

start of trail to exit of trail = 15.7 miles

I get 18 city, 20 hwy and 16 off road. im sure most members will have no issue with gas. If they want to bring extra, it wont hurt.

yeah Brian, I am the one gets bad milage with the auto, although i am not sure why that would make as big of a difference as it should. i only get 16mpg at best. need to check some things like exhaust leaks and stuff like that. I may be getting slightly better now. i finally aired up to recommended and just deal with the rougher ride. Fairy are your calc's screwy 16 miles to mud lake but only 15 of total trail? are we doing the whole trail in one day camp and then go home?

My distances were calculated using the ruler button on google earth. If we can make it to the lake in one day, it would be good to place to camp. If we do not make it the pre run will show use the best camping spots for the final run. The reason the lake is further then the end of the trail. The turn to go to mud lake is about a mile from the end of the trail. you can check it out on google maps or google earth.
