Wow that's super ambitious, can't wait to see your rig, I have always wanted to actually see dual cases perform, now there's at least 2 on this trip. Can't wait, I can't get out of Greensboro fast enough.

twin sticks are the schiznit. fo-reel-do.

steve's 4-banger-of-fury was in super-slow-motion when in low-low-first gear.

We hope to be there Thursday eavening around 5. may not be wheeling the rig though as it needs a front drive shaft.
Iwll see this morning if I can get one by Wednesday.

Do you need one? You are welcome to my spare if needed...but it maybe too long unless you snuck in a extra case. I think its Flange to flange 25in compressed and 42 inch extended but I will have to double check this afternoon. It is the rectangle flange size on each end(not the square or the small bolt pattern.)

I'm anticipating being there on Wednesday night. Anyone else getting there early?

Keep in mind that was the Marlin Ultimate, 3 stock cases. I don't know if these guys are that low.

I probably used the 100 to 1 a few times which is just the first case down and the back in high.

New stuff is opposite, 4.7 in the front versus the back on old junk.

That will screw me up on the buggie for sure a few times.

The front case has a 4.7 gear in it. Imagine two stock cases in one. The rear has the newer low range gear which is like 2.56 and not like 2.28 like the olders cases.

ok, 3-cases, front is "set" and doesn't shift. 2nd case is a stock case that' either "hi" or "low" and rear case is 2.56 and selectable for 2hi, 4hi and 4lo, correct...

wow. that is low.

No, the front shifts: 1 to 1 - N - Double Low

The rear is the same J pattern as everyone else's and activated the 4WD.

You drove this truck........

yeah, once. i flopped the front stick into low and let off the clutch (rear stick was in 4hi IIRC - so that's why it was crawling so slow!). i haven't looked into getting a crawler yet, so i'm not all that in tune with how they're set up.

ok... two cases, front has a 4.7 for a "Double Low" ratio, rear is stock- mostly.

front = 1:1, N, or Double Low
rear = stock J pattern, but with a lower gear ratio

now i think i'm on the same planet...

me > < you

It took me awhile to realize that he was referring to the 4.7 case as "two" and then the other one as "one".

Someone, either Marlin or Inchworm built one back in the day that actually had 2 cases, I am not sure if it was just for show or what though.

1985 4Runner--you got a PM. I can pick up a tire if you need me to. No problem at all. I'll probably have to strap it down on the roof if it's bigger than a 31". Sounds like it is.

Scott and Will--I'll PM you all my cell number just in case something happens and we can't meet up at the Fudruckers (sp?) place.

I got my electrical buggers fixed, so no more ploblems with that. Now for an oil change, new spark plugs and a wash, and I'm ready to go.

Thanks DH6twinotter,

Turn out the tire is in Boone & Andy is going to grab it & transport for me. So I should be good to go with the tire, but looking for a 15x12 or 15x14 wheel now. I am looking hard.

Sliders get welded on tonight, then shocks...

If you find a wheel here in Charlotte, I'll be glad to pack it along for you.
