You should have bought that Dana 44 for 50 bucks. What a deal.

Now that would have actually been a "cheeper plan", until you started adding molly shafts and CTMs.

Shoulda coulda woulda! Oh well, I've got a different idea of what I want to do down the road, but it's not going to be any time soon. We just bought a Tundra Double Cab, spent $4,000 in aftermarket on it in a weekend, so I have to recoup for a while.

Not gonna be able to make this one.

All 4Runner upgrade funds and other spending habits have been nixed for the purchase of a house.

That does not sound like a cheaper plan?

It's not a cheaper plan, that's for sure. She needed something she could haul the dogs around in, along with get around in the snow. He Lexus SC400 was horrible in the snow, which resulted in me having to take her to work every time it snowed. I'll get pics of the finished product once the camper top and running boards get in.

Running boards? Don't you have a few sections of frame you could cut out and weld on?

Maybe a roadside guard rail? Might work for a bumper too? Street sign skid plates?

I understand, snow sucks.

Nice going Andy, I still need to try and catch this guy around town, who drives a sweet 80. I would really like to see him come, it'd be nice to have a local guy I could go with. He lives right around the corner from me, I just don't want to seem like a stalker.

It's definitely a chick truck for my wife. I'll get to use it if I'm lucky and make sure I don't mess it up. Off-roading it is completely out of the question. She'd shoot me! It will have an ARE topper, custom built elevated sleeping area with storage underneath(finished it this weekend), weathertech floor mats, legacy seat covers, clear bra up front, tinted front windows, and Owens fiberglass running boards. And $4,000 later, she has a truck setup the way she wants. Yippee! As long as she's happy and feel safe driving it, I'm cool with it.

Cool cool,
sounds like a good tow/camping rig! Got to love having a dry place to stay no matter where you are with little to no setup time and is ready to go at the drop of the hat. I'm going to start playing with how I'm going to set-up my rig for camping at tellico. Maybe even build a box to lift the mattress up a bit like it sounds like your doing in the tun...

edit:
I just saw brady little while ago and he is stoked on starting his SaS project. He just picked up a 02 F250 axle and is going full length. Its not going to be going under his truck anytime soon, but just thought I would share

Yeah, when we don't take the dogs, we'll sleep in the back above the elevated section, and when we take the dogs we'll sleep in the tent and dogs will sleep in the truck.

Paul will be riding his 4wheeler as usual, and me and my dad will be riding in his new Ranger XP he's going to buy this next week. It should be a lot of fun, since he's never really done the off-roading thing and this is a great inexpensive way for him to get into it a little and still use it on his 5 acres for utility. I'm really looking forward to it. I'd like to register me and my dad, and I'll send Paul the link to where he needs to register. I also emailed Tellico Cabins to see about a place to stay.

I can't wait to hang with everyone again. I want to ride with the group that's going to ride the hard stuff if my Dad can do it in the Ranger. I'm not he'll be able to do it all, so I may have to bail on some of them. But, for those thatwe can make, we'll definitely have a nice digital camera and my video camera for all the truck action. At least he'll be getting a winch too, so hopefully we'll be able to do a lot of it. We'll see what his tolerance level is though.

My plan is to fab up some sliders for it and bring them with me or ship them before the trip, so he doesn't destroy it on the trails.

So what trails is everyone running?

I will be running SlickRock, Guardrail, Helipad, School Bus and Lower 2. Dunno but I may attempt Peckerwood but I don't think I have enough flex and clearance to climb the wall unassisted.
