Scott I have a list of trails and places I would like to see. I'll start working on an itinerary for Sat - Tue Lunch over the next 2 weeks or so. You can then take out stupid ideas. I can then get hold of the park to see which of the good ideas are open ( I always like talking to them as 90% of the time they have no idea what I'm saying over the phone ). Can probably use that to compile a good itinerary.

I think if anybody else want to go some place specific or a specific trail, probably post here. That way we will start getting a nice list compiled.

I am really about Titus canyon road, was so looking forward to seeing it. But I'm sure there are plenty of other places to go. Would love to see the Racetrack as well.

Sounds good...

Places I think you should see, just for sightseeing sake include Rhyolite (old mining town), Ubehebe crater (which is convenient, since it's on the way to the racetrack/lippincot/etc trails), the dunes near stovepipe, short hike up mosaic canyon (1/2 mi from where you are staying)...

The natural history museum at Furnace Creek is worth a look if you have time left in the day, and want to hit the steakhouse there for dinner (I owe ya one! )

Without thinking about it too much, I was thinking of something like one day in the racetrack/etc loop, maybe with Scottys castle, if we have time

one day down the west side road, hitting the canyon roads heading west from there (unless the stuff to the east opens by then, have to see...)

one day in the stuff around stovepipe (couple canyons, dunes, etc)

An ambitions bit would be to try to get up to the Eureka dunes, I've never been up there....

But there's lots of other possibilities, so feel free to throw out whatever you like!

I'm interested! Have been wanting to go for a few years now but have never been. The website at www.death-valley.us is VERY informative, the regulars there are very helpful.
Also recommend the Death Valley map from AAA and the Roger Mitchell trail book for Death Valley.

Guys,

I'm gonna try to make this trip. I've always wanted to do this after seeing previous runs by members. I'm going to see if I can't try to get the wife to go and to learn how to drive stick by the trip date! (wow, a pig flew by my window!)

I wish I could just get the whole week off, stay at my Mom's house in Hesperia, and go again for fun instead of school.

Okay USED to be 5 when I was rollin in the 'stang. Now its about six (gotta take dog stops and watch those curves in the Runner) We're pretyy much Southern Oregon -- or at least southern oregon's backyard.

Get a map. Look at the way up north California, where it meets the oregon border. Put your finger on the coast and go down about 50 miles. You will find yourself in Humboldt County right around Eureka, CA. That's the largest thing closest to me...

What you can't see in that picture is that Blitzem is used in lieu of a winch to get the 4runner up to spots like that. Andries removed the tow strap from the dog right before the picture was taken...

That would be funny if the pic was of your 4Runner.
I think the dog would be better used for an anchor than for a winch...

True, he would be a far better anchor than winch. Besides Scofco's dog has the doggie winch market cornered

Fortunately I got space at Stovepipe Wells so he is going.

The only thing is you need this as part of your 4Runner first aid kit when Bliksem is coming with.

I'd like to join ya guys but I'll have to ride shotgun or back seat. Put me down as a maybe for taking up someone's cabin space in their 4runner.

I'm sure we will be able to fit you somewhere in somebodies truck, even if it is the roofrack

SPeaking of which, we will need to get a list of who is coming and from where. That way we know what is happening, and it will be easy for you to get a ride in from LA.

GT, What's the deal. Your signature is now stripped of mods, and your shopping for a set of factory rims. Are you departing with the Runner? Enquiring minds want to know.

No not selling anything. It's just going thru a major overhaul. Hopefully I'll have it up and running again by the start of the summer. I'm going for the bling effect now! haha Just making it more trail ready that's all.. It's a slow progress when I work upwards of 12+ hrs a day

The reason for shopping for the factory rims are because I saw in the toy catalog that the wheels look much better than the 03/04 SR5. I could be wrong but I think the 05 SR5 wheels are abit different (if they are I'd like to snatch it up). I'm soo vain! lol
