I'm going to have to bow out once again.
My girlfriend's mom went in for surgery to remove a kidney on Friday.
Jennifer's going to have more priority this weekend and she wants to be alone.

*sigh*
Maybe next time.

Am I going to need onboard Air? Will I be able to do all the trails at one pressure setting...IF SO...what do you all recommend for a Highway/Trail pressure???

Will be driving on new BFG AT's 265 70 R 17

Air would be a good idea. I just use a portable compressor. I will air down a bit to make the ride softer, especially on the wash board. I'll probably start at 28 and go down if needed.

Here is a pic of the compressor I bought and I have used it for quite some time now and it works well. I normally airs up quickly enough, just when I'm at Pismo it takes a while to air up.

Kevin,

That is a good question. I'll probably run at 18 psi since I believe that is what my Staun deflators are preset at. I also have the BFG AT's just bought them today (how much did you pay? ??). I was also planing on buying an ExtremeAire Outback compressor on my way up to DV.

I'm bringing my extreme aire as well... so air will be readily available.

Yeah, I'll shoot and post some tomorow while my Runner is still clean. I took it to the car wash Sunday AM before you and GoodTimes came over. Didn't want you guys to have to work on a dirty truck. Its definitely looking sweet. I can't wait for my Cash Flow Out to be offset by my Death Valley Return on Investment!

Have you done your wheel alignment after the lift yet, especially with your new shoes??

Andries asked me in a pm about whether I was going to remove my running boards before DV. I was considering it. What do you guys think...advantage or not?

I am a bit concerned about stones flying up onto the body work tho

Also does anyone know if there is place in/outside DV that can strip and replace a tire if necessary? I'm figuring that if I blow one tire I have a spare. At that stage I would leave the "party" and have the damaged tire stripped and replace with a spare tire I'd carry, then rejoin the party for the next days adventures, still having a spare at all times. I've only got the stock Dunflops with about 17,000m on them and plenty of tread left. I don't really want to be getting new tires at the moment.

its an easy job but take your time. i stripped two of the bolts without much effort. if they're not coming loose then get some liquid wrench in there and let it sit for a while.

If you guys aren't doing anything too rugged, you could leave the runing boards but just know that you risk bending them up into the body. Someone will spot you if you feel uncomfortable I'm sure.

Running boards come off in 10 min super easy. Just screw the bolts back in.

If someone has a tire patch kit than you really have 2 spares. Patch the flat, and swap to the spare before you drive home. You can plug a tire several times and it's permanent.

Miller Auto in Lone Pine hooked my party up with the tires we needed. Cool guys and some awesome recovery vehicles to check out if you end up there. (Namely the 1980's Ex-Army Recovery Vehicle.)
