Just bring enough food to feed a few additional members. I'm sure with that we'll end up with more food than expected but it'll make it perfect for a wonderful breakfast.

I plan to pack some beef/chicken in some kind of marinade (suggestions?) and some hot dogs for the kids (I don't have any but I noticed we have quite a few joining us). I'll probably bring some veggies to make some stir fry to mix it up a bit too. (Corn and some potatoes will be a great addition too). Since I'll be joining ya guys from fri night - tuesday I'll have to figure out where to fit all of the food!

I will probably have a bit of space in the back of my truck so I can carry some extra gear. Could probably fit a couple cords of wood in the back too.

In my booking confirmation they did not specify a site #. Is it wise for me to ring them and request this? Seems to me that the sites were all close together anyway.

Mark, I'm sure you're ok but I'd call to verify just to be safe This way we will all know where you'll be.

Mark, they do not "reserve" specific camp sites. They will try to accomodate individual requests, as they have conveyed in individual emails, but make no promises or guarantees, and as the group gets bigger obviously it gets harder for them to accomodate. The campground is very small and all the tents sites are very cloe together. We will all be able to find each other very easily and hang out with each other by the campfire even if we are not in adjacent spots.

Still a Maybe (50/50) But here is my info if you want it.

RobG (Rob)
PSR Tent Site Reservation Fri + Sat Night
93 4Runner (White)
Probably 2 (Myself and 9yr Old Daughter)
Friday AM (for Pleasent Vally Trip) -> Sunday Afternoon/Evening

Any idea what time the Friday run will start at the trailhead? I plan on meeting the Friiday crew there if I go.

I have a GPS and have started loading waypoints if that is of use. Don't have a CB but can get one by then if it will help.

I think I have to go to represent the 2nd Gens, cant believe the number of 3rd and 4th gen 4runners.

We can tentatively plan to meet at Ballarat, at the little store there, at 10:00AM. This will make it easier and faster for those driving up from LA in the morning. I've never done Pleasant before, but am pretty sure it will be a 4WD trail. I was going to start loading waypoints as well and post them, but I haven't had the time to tinker with my GPS yet.

As I've mentioned before in several of my other posts, I am not yet 100% committed due to business obligations. I sorta feel in an akward position with as much of the planning I've done so far for the group. It may be a good idea to have Scottiac or any of the other attendees who have some DV/PV experience prepare to step in if I have to bow out. In any event, it shouldn't be a big issue. The DV run last year planned by Scottiac and Bulldog_Yota went great, and I believe the runs we did were new to all the attendees at that time.

I found someones track file for pleasent canyon in the link below, incase you haven't found this.

http://www.deathvalley.com/exploring/messages/30.shtml

It looks much better than the waypoints out of the SCal trail books but I will load those as well.

Here is the only response I got when asking for a campsite number.
" Hi Rob. Yes you have a campsite along with your friends. Jerry "

Excellent Rob! My biggest concern was the where'bouts of Chicken Rock on the trail, and it looks like its in the South Park portion. It was my understanding that as of a few weeks ago South Park, or a portion thereof, was closed? I'll do some homework on that and report back.

I found Yucaipa on the map. 15 north to 395 north. 395 north to 178 east. Fill tank in Ridgecrest, then stay on 178 thru Trona and into Panamint Valley. About 9-10 miles past the turnoff to Ballarat (it will be on your right, but stay on the 178 a.k.a. Trona-Wildrose Rd.) you will turn left on to Panamint Valley Rd. and take that about another 10+ miles until it dead ends into the 190, make a left (going west) on the 190 and PSR is two miles up the road, campground on the right, resort and check-in on the left.

Click here for a map 1/2 way down the page...
http://www.deathvalley.com/reserve/reserve.shtml

The area is big and remote. No one should head out there with out a good map of the area, unless they have a GPS and know how to use it. I highly recommend a good map of the area for each truck..available at AAA, Sports Chalet, and on-line.

If you want to stretch it a little, there is a station in Trona to fill up at, net savings about 28-30 miles from the last gas station in Ridgecrest.

Also anyone wanna commit to a time for a Saturday morning departure? I might make just the Saturday run if it's alright.

AwwwwWWWW CRAP IN THE CRAPBOX!! I just learned THIS MORNING that my childrens school is having their Monte Carlo Night on the 25th!! That is their big fundraising event for the year, and good "participation" seems to result in us getting our choices for teachers for the next school year. This will be a very hard hurdle for me to overcome.

Anyways, dfireballd PM'ed me and it reminded me that we need to establish a contact list with each attendees pertinant info inc. name, cell #, etc, and a CB channel should be established for comm. Would anyone like to take the lead on that? Any of the guys from last years run that might still have that contact list, perhaps?

Everyone, please PM me or email me directly @ goodtimes (at) chaosedition.com with your contact info (first/username/contact#/email). Once I get all the data I'll email everyone back accordingly.

CB = Channel 16 (since I'm sure the xterra folks will be using ch 4)
If you got a ham (honey roasted hehe), I should have my ham up for emergency only.

Thanks!
