Hey Pierre:

I'll take your spot so Bob and his neighbor can share a spot.

I never reserved a camping spot, but seeing how many people are going to camp in spots, it would be nice to stay with the group. Hindsight is 20/20 when I reread your post, Bob. I'd be interested to hear if they have any more spots open or someone is willing to share their spot with me (I have the dinero for it).

Yeah, I'm comin' Friday w/ you but have a hotel room right by the camp. I plan on leaving Saturday night so I won't need the camp site. I tried getting two nights at the cabin but they only had a campsite for Saturday night.

I'm leaving tomorrow for NY and then again next week for a few days so I'll let you know for sure by early next week.

Yes and yes...if I can somehow manage to sweet talk my way out of the Monte Carlo night thing we'll share, and if I can't then you can take the spot.

Who is bringing kids, wives, girlfriends or all? Seems like a lot of people are travelling solo now.

It's looking more like I won't be making it, looks like a 40% chance I'll be coming and a 20% chance I'll be coming with my 9yr old daughter.

Won't know till next week if I'm not commng I'll see if any want's my tent reservation before canceling it.

It's yours if you want it and I don't go.

I'm really trying to go but like Dealmaker my kids commitments are not cooperating.

Quick update: First post is updated with the most current info I think

Also, I contacted PSR asking more info about their site:

"Our campgrounds are the only campgrounds in the entire national park with shower facilities for the guests, there are toilets and water, and firepits, however, only a quarter of the sites currently have benches, and these are "grab-n-growl", or first come, first served...Reservations can be made on line at www.deathvalley.com, or by phone at 1-775-482-7680..."

This definitely makes it significant other friendly

Caravan Arrangements: (tentative)
fri 1pm - Bob/neighbor/Edwin
fri evening - Lance/Henry

Lets start figuring out caravan arrangements so the drive is not a rough one alone.

Ryan, are you taking the 5 or the 15 up? I believe Bob and company will be heading from LA at around 1pm so that maybe a good time for you to make a pit stop and caravan with them from LA to DV. As we get closer I know we'll be dialing in all of the details

woo hoo! 2 weeks to go!

Ok guys, I scanned all 23 pages of the "Guide to California Backroads & 4WD Trails" book on the Death Valley trails. This will definitely help everyone understand what and where we are going.

Linky (pdf) Right click and save!

I highly recommend this book. Tdiddy gave this to me before he left for the cornfields

I gotta get back to work, so if someone can figure out the relevant pages by destination *by day* and list them, that would be great.

Bob

Day 1 (Friday): Pleasant Canyon pg. 16. There's nothing on Lookout Mountain in the PDF you posted, Bob.

Day 2 (Saturday): Didn't find anything on anyplace you've got listed for that day.

Day 3 (Sunday): Goler Wash/Mengel Pass pg. 20 Butte Valley pg. 24

Day 4 (Monday): Echo Pass pg. 10

I've also got Mitchells SUV Guide to Death Valley, which has 'em all covered, and a tomharrison.com map that I can prolly drop off to Lance before the trip.
