If you guys can skip work, you should really try to be on the road by 5:00AM-ish and wheel up Pleasant Canyon/South Park on Friday with us.

Got my reservation in for tent site at PSR. Just waiting for confirmation. They have three rooms still available if anyone is interested. 2 and 3 bed from $94 to $109 + tax.
I can leave Friday anytime after 2pm if anyone is heading up then.
Cheers

I haven't booked anything yet myself. The campground Scottiac stayed in last year was nicer than that huge Sunset campground across from the Chevron. Anyone remember the name of that campground? Also, there are nice hotel rooms...

I was just about to book for Furnance Creek Inn ($170 + ) when wife yells out that she has to work Tuesday, so we will leave Monday afternoon/evening. Oh well
Given that we are staying in PSR and the proximity to the fine dining, are you guys intending to eat at their dining facilities or take all your cooking gear.
I'm leaning towards eating out at night to save on carrying so much stuff. Then I can get away with just basics for breakfast and lunch each day.
If we all do intend on eating in their dining facilities, would we need to book tables in advance?
I just remeber last year it was packed everywhere.

If Bob is bringing his Mom's Korean BBQ, I'm hanging in the campground!
I'll prolly bring my cooking gear anyway JIC, and as its storage box helps everything stay in its place in the back of my truck

I'll probably do something similar, depending if I travel solo or not, though the food at the restaurant isn't cheap. The food is good, but not top shelf
If we all do intend on eating in their dining facilities, would we need to book tables in advance? Usually letting them know a day in advance if we will have a laarge dinner group is sufficient, based on my last experience there. Especially if we want their prime rib dinner. They need to truck all that stuff in from 'bout 60-90 miles away.
I just remeber last year it was packed everywhere. Though it will be "high season" I don't think they will have the masses like last year. The rare wildflower bloom and press coverage really pumped the place up. /QUOTE]

I've got a tent site at PSR for thu/fri/sat nights, and a campsite at furnace creek for mon-fri (which I probably won't use all of, but hey...)
The furnace creek campground is the only one you can make rsvp's for in the furnace creek area, so if you start here, you'll get what you need:
http://www.nps.gov/deva/pphtml/camping.html
I'll bring at least minimal camp kitchen, my wife, and two dogs (they come with the wife this time, and the reason I'll probably not stay at FC the whole time I had planned. Nat'l parks not great for dogs...)

I would like to update the group list on the first post so if you can please reply back with your updated info if it is not accurate that would be greatly appreciated.
Username and first name
PSR Campsite Number (if you can camping here - otherwise post where you'll be staying)
Vehicle Year/Model
Number of passengers
Number of nights (fri-sun? thurs-sun? thurs-mon? thurs-tues? etc)
What do you guys think about having a pot luck for saturday night? Since we should all be together that night I thought it might be a great opportunity for all of us to grub together. If we can all bring something we can share w/ the group, that'll work perfectly.
Thanks!

I'll have to see about what cookware I can bring. Are campfires permitted? Potluck sounds tasty. We should also post what we plan on bringing to the potluck so we don't all bring steak.
I'll make my spaghetti sauce for the potluck.

I definitely won't be camping. I may try to come out for Saturday's run, Darwin Falls/Lippencott/Racetrack or whatever it turns out to be. What time would everyone be departing PSR on Saturday morning?
