GREAT PEOPLE
GREAT TRAILS

GREAT CARNAGE!
Carole and I have really enjoyed this time with new faces and old personalities. This was a great trip, already looking forward to next year's run.
Sandman, I really would like to get a copy of that broken axle tape.

Schaffer, glad to see you got home in one piece. Good to see you again. Carole and I were talking about going out to AZ to visit some family, and (of course) do some wheeling. Maybe a little Martinez Canyon action! Or maybe even Ajax canyon! I might even try the Firehole in Martinez ....

I just got home even though I only live 2 hours from the campground. Michael K. (from Oregon) and I watched as Mike Caskey of ORS and 2 of his friends drove Carnage Gulch (a new extreme trail) at Old Chinaman's Gulch. The near vertical wall that you have to winch up at the exit was rather exciting. One guy rolled over his left rear corner and landed hard on his roof, but he was OK and he only took one tire off the rim. All the trucks had exo's and were pretty impressive.
I had a very fun time at the Jamboree this year.
As Schaefer mentioned, the group overwhelmingly expressed far more interest in going to Moab rather than anywhere in Colorado for next year, so you can plan on Moab. There will be a limit to the number of vehicles (40??? or less) due to BLM restrictions of organized events there. I have no idea what we'll call the event yet.

I will get a copy to you in the mail this week sometime. (Send me an e-mail with your address.)
For those who would be interested in hearing Scheafer expressing "the agony of defeat," I've made available a sound file here. (This is all in fun.)Our family had an awesome time again this year. It wouldn't have been the same without all the great folks who made the sacrafice to drive from the far regions of the USA to join us. Thank you all!

Crawlin with 7 people in the 4Runner. Still spanking !!!
As for that stupid rock:
1. Brown gets high cetered
2. Yoder gets high centered
3. Schaefer gets high centered with a Wisconsin soptter, SPANKS it with Caskey spotting.

Well, as you could all probably tell, I had a great time
.
It was a pleasure to actually meet all of the guys that I have spent the last 6 months reading about. I learned a lot too. Thanks!
I can't wait till Moab, I think I am hooked!
I will be prepared by then too, no more woosy stuff.
33's, Lockers, Bumpers there goes the walet

Did not need it on Wheeler Lake
Worked great on Chinaman until it started raining, then I could only use the 100 to 1 part.
Colorado is a little different than AZ and CA (Rubicon) in the aspect that you have mud. That was new to me. The crawler shines in pure rock crawling. Does nothing for mud, but a front locker sure does.

My only reason for poking at you, Steve, is that ahead of time you were poking fun of Colorado trails. Some of our trails require a ton of ground clearance, and some of our obsticles can't be conquered by crawling. So when I refer to you getting spanked, I mean by the trails, not by me. No doubt, those trails spanked me harder than you.
Watching the tape last night of you high centered on the new Chinaman's obstacle, I saw how your low gears allowed you to be gentle on your frame. Mine got clobbered. (I'm a little concerned I might have messed it up.)Everyone, I think Steve's a good guy. And I think it was fun seeing his feathers get a little ruffled this weekend.

Twenty three and a half hours after leaving Buena Vista, Colorado, I am finally home. I spent just over 20 hours driving (rest was sleeping, refueling and eating), and covered 1269 miles.
I'm now going to bed.
