My favorite is BASS and Corona. But Bud and Bud Select are staples with us.

That mudhole looks wicked. Just lay a small tarp over your hood and grill and motor on thru.

Crawl Box showed up yesterday so see you guys in a day or 2 after it's in. 7 days and counting. Damn...

I have some stuff for sale too, it will not be coming with me unless you commit to buying it before I leave.

8" non-elocker rear third from my '99, 3.90 gears $130
I will throw in some 4.30 gears that should fit that for free if you buy it, the 4.30 gears have 2 chipped teeth on the pinion, but are useable, they came off of the e-locker I'm using now.

Rear 3rd gen SR5 mudflaps, black $15 pair

Misc. tow hooks $5 pair

Chevy Z-71 tow hooks $5 pair

Deckplate, never used, clear $4

I hope it is, so you guys can make it around that way. If not, you can just leave earlier than us!
Chris is there anywhere to park near where the Slickrock trail turns off of 8 so we can go watch? I want to run trail 8, but that mudhole will swallow me and if we won't make it around the other way in time, maybe we can just walk up from the bottom and watch? Maybe we could come out trail 6 that day and have a little fun there-if there is time after slickrock-you know we can't cut into beer drinking time too much.
Well, I think the best way for us to go up to slickrock is take the gravel road to 5, go left on 4 past Fain's Ford, take the first hard right 180 onto 8, and then fork off onto Slickrock. If you guys are willing to ride up to the base of slickrock, it's not really hard except for the very beginning. It's not damage you'll get, but you might high center a little bit and need a little tug. Once past that first big rock, it's free sailing all the way to the base of slickrock, where you can pull your caravan off to the side and everyone can get by. If we confirm that the big mudhole isn't cleaned out, then I think this would be the best way to come.
I will also have a full caravan b/c my brother in law and his wife are coming up. They will be staying with us in the popup and since my popup is a lot bigger now, there won't be much room on my site, I can probably handle one tent.
Do I still have dibs on that one spot Brett, as usual?
Paul, sorry to hear you can't make it, who's gonna be the gourmet chef now?
Yeah Paul, you need to get your priorities straight! Oh, wait, you already do, but that does suck. You'll be missed man!
Jutty-rockcrawling at Crawfords will become addictive, just ask Chris, I think he has every rock on that course named!
Yeah, I'll spend a lot of time on it this year, not llike I haven't in the past, but I want to test our my new found clearance that I have on this bigger rocks. It's a great place to play!
Also, my computer has died, but my brother is building me a new one, but the parts and install won't happen before Tellico. So, I will only be checking this from time to time from my office when I'm here. If you need to get in touch with me, send me a pm, but it may be a couple of days before I reply. Chris and Andy should have my cell number. I will be at Crawfords by mid afternoon on Thursday.
Yep, I don't have a cell phone, but I do have Doc's & Brett's cell phone numbers. I've still got so much to do, it's unbelievable! There's no way the bumper will be done, because I haven't even gotten close on the gas tank skid, haven't got my FROR skid plate/crossmember in yet, still have to install the new high clearance crossmember, yada, yada, yada. Cry me a river, but damn, I need some days off before this trip to get it all done. This weekend I ahve a fmaily reunion, so that's out, which sucks. Wish me luck!

The mudhole is a different one than I'm thinking about alltogether. That one does look a lot deeper than the last time I was there. But, what's hidden in that thing is that where that trucks is stuck, it's about a 3-4ft near vertical wall of mud, so that's why it's hard to make it out. The beauty of it, though, is that the rest of it is just deep water. Just make surer you don't have an open air intake, and rock on through it like trekker said! Piece of cake!

Chris - I'm going to call Crawfords and reserve a spot - looks like lot's of people have not done that - just to be sure we have a space for our tent
and fire. Brett's site will be full with his company. Since we are going early we will just set up where we always do.

I've crossed deep, deep water before laying a tarp over my hood and grill. Stops the water from entering the engine bay from the front killing the fan and alternator. If you keep a steady bow wave going, you can run water up to your windshield no problems.

Mud is mud though. They should drain that hole. It's more of a hinderance than an obstacle at the point its at.

I agree though guys, going up SlickRock sounds alot easier than the bypass/detour.

Stupid Truck Tricks at Crawfords!! Can't wait

I'm game to go through the hole, I'll pick up a tarp at The Depot, they're on sale this week. Plus if someone with a winch goes through first and can make it out or at least winch out then they can just pull the rest of us out, or at least provide a two strap. Lets do it.

If it makes you all feel better when me and Joe went up it together, I did it in 2-wheel drive and some hefty speed. For the lift of me I could not figure out how he walked up it pretty easily, and here I was having a hell of a time. Then once I got through it and continued on, I told Joe, and we laughed our A$$e$ off.

Is that the mud hole on #8 ? - I thought that one also had the curve and the 5 foot bank that was hard to stay off of.
That is the hole where I pushed the large rock out with my cross-member
while everyone pushed on my roof to keep me off the bank.

Doc, what you're thinking about is on 6 I believe, or maybe on 4 near trail 6. That mudhole on 8 is nasty, the first time I tried it at the first event the water wasn't that deep, but I bang the front bumper off the ledge on the other end(we were going up), I would of had it on video but my camera person messed up. Last time I did not go that way so I missed the hole, but it came over doink's hood and he has probably 3.5" over me. I will not being trying that hole, I'd like to get home in one piece under my own power.

Talking

Look what the adult Santa (UPS/FedEx guy) has brought me the last few days. Now all I need is my BFG Muds from the FedEx guy tomorrow. And my Rancho 9000 shocks from the UPS man I hope this week.

I’m doing a write up on the cruiser coil and BJ spacer lift. I hope to install everything this weekend. Anyone want to help ? I have Corona .

I forgot to select the color brake line i wanted when I checked out at marlin so I got red . I’ll just have to put some black plastic electrical stuff around it. So remember when ordering from marlin you must select the color unless you want them to send you the one you don’t want.

EDIT: I meant to say BJ Spacer in the image where it says Diff Drop.

Chris, if I have room, you're more than welcome. If you are there before me, then save me the spot that is closest to those campers that are there year round. I'll need to park my popup away from the night action b/c w/ Brandy being pregnant she hits the bed pretty early.

I just talked to Steve and the trail 8 mudhole is not fixed and he said nobody will get through it-recently a Unimog got stock in it and had to winch out!

He is going to get in contact with the Forest Service for us and we'll know about the mudhole when we arrive on Thursday, there is a chance it may be fixed, but only a slim chance.

He also said that the campground is full, so if you do not have a site, we may all be really packing in together. He said we were down for 6 water/electric sites on the creek and 5 primitive sites. If you don't have a site though, it wouldn't hurt to call anyway and just ask.

That should be plenty of room. You can fit at least 3 tents if not more (when they are together) and we can park trucks in the middle.
