I know the area pretty well but would just as soon not lead. I believe that the lead vechicle should have a locker or a winch with a passenger to help as a spotter. I may or may not have the locker by Tellico time but I will be riding alone - except for the dog.

I also usually keep my runner free of damage by watching the guy in front of me. I'll except the job if nobody else steps up but I prefer to follow.

I will have my sliders on this time - if Chris and I can find the time to weld them on. I had an EZ locker purchased and the deal fell through - the guy offered a new locker in the box for $150.00 - he backed out of the deal suddenly and I have not decided to order one yet. I did score a whole set of newer Tacoma 15" wheels and really good tires for $100.00 -
I will be mounting my tires on these wheels for a little more BLING. The tires are street tires and will be sold - my 2nd generation wheels will be available soon. Anybody interested ?

I beleive Doc is right, that the lead vehicle should have a winch if not at least a locker to insure his getting through to help support and spot the rest of the group.

I would nominate, Brett to lead one of the moderate groups, or Paul if he is coming. I saw him respond to the post about t-shirts at least. But I am confident in Brett's truck's abilities, that is if he has his locker working this time, j/k. I also trust both he and Brandy's spotting abilities.

great! keep the suggestions coming.
So far we have Chris to lead the the slickrock group.
hopefully others will respond and either accept the task or nominate someone else that can handle it.

Jutty, if you or youre friends have some experience here you can nominate them as well.

the more we get figured out now, the more time we can spend by the camp fire telling stories!!

Okay. I will volunteer and know a few of us can lead if need be. Well one other really, my buddy with the 85 runner on 37s. The other guys going haven't been to Tellico before.

Here's where I am with my ride equipment wise.

33s (ouch)
Dual Cases
Dual TCASE skid
Rear Lincoln Locker
Front Lockright
8K lb winch
Full armor and roll cage

the 85 runner is the same but with 37s

Like I said, we can lead, we can follow, just being with the group is what counts for us.

I'm being told that I need to at least try Lower 2. I'm okay with that Vince and his big truggy is winchless right now so he will definately need to stay in our group to keep him moving. He has dual cases and lockers just no winch.

Yeah, I could lead a group on trails 4,5,6 or 8. The locker works like a charm now, apparently the motor just got out of adjustment and I have a winch.

When is everyone coming up? If most everyone isn't there until Friday night, then we might talk about the hard group (slickrock, etc.) running on Friday and whoever is with the moderate or harder trails can run some trails and watch the other group on the hard stuff.

Let's start a list, copy and paste this part of the post with your name and day:

Thursday Afternoon/Night:

1. Dragr1-Brett and Brandy

Friday Afternoon/Night:

You have more balls than me, because I've seen lower 2 and it would swallow my truck on 33" tires, but I'm not equipped fully like you are.

Oh believe you me, I'm not convinced (totally yet) that I should attempt it. I've seen it, walked it, it's nasty but I know of yotas in 33s set up like mine that have done it.

It will have to be sunny and dry, I will say that. Worse case, I'll just drag and use my skids.

Ugh..Wishin I had the bigger tire conversion now, just haven't collected enuff parts yet.

If other rigs have done it locked front and rear with 33's, I'd say have at man. Pushing the limits is what it's all about for sure. I'd definitely like it to be dry too, but the chances will be slim, probably. I'd try it if I was locked in the front and it was dry too. But, I'm not, so I won't be able to enjoy it with you.

I know of a Tacoma that did it, his specs:

Tacoma Ext Cab
4cyl, 5spd
4.56 gears
locked both ends
35" tires

It's the guy that bought Tom's (Trailcarnage) buggy. He used to be the Mad African, but I haven't seen any posts on TTORA from him in a while.

The boss just approved my request to be off on Thursday - I was planning on driving up Thursday after work - now I can be there by early afternoon on Thursday !

I need to get some decisions made and parts ordered to allow time for additional modifications before then. I am so ready for this time off and the great people and the wheeling !

Doc, I get off at 5:15pm now, so I can be ready to weld by 6pm at my house. I want to spend some time with my wife tonight, but just let me know what you have in mind.

Chris,

Thanks - I am home by 6:30 most days. Any evening will work for me.
E-mail me at dstaley@searay.com or call my cell 659-7804.

The scab plates need to be welded to the sliders first - I've already fitted them to the runner. Should I wait to prime and paint ? or just allow enough clean metal with tape ?

We'll see. I'd like to think I'll give it a go, but weather is going to have a huge factor on the decision.

Personally, I can't wait for SlickRock, Guardrail and Heli Pad. I have a trail hit list.

It will probably be late when we roll in, because I dont get off work until around 5:30.

Does crawfords have a closing time ? I know we're a good 3.5 hours away, but I would much rather get there thursday night and not have to rush fri morning.

Crawford's is pretty laid back - as long as you check in the next morning you will be fine. You might want to call or e-mail and get your site number.

We will be on the creek side which is the left side - mid way down.
I'm quite sure there will be 4 runners there !

That's perfect man! Let me see what's in store for the rest of my week, and I'll let you know. As far as priming, I'd prime them, but not paint them yet, because with all the movement, they'll probably get sratched up a bit before you have to paint them anyway. So, just prime with tape covering 1/4"-1/2" on the ends that are being welded.
