Pickup vs. T100

Pickup vs. T100
So I own a 95 T. But lately its been giving me a lot of problems. I'm running out of money to keep sinking into it. Today I found out my neighbor across the hill (who owns my old 90 Toyota pickup) wants to trade trucks with me. I love my T100 but there's no real way to get any aftermarket parts for it and I'm very tired of putting money into it. I know my old pickup has potential to be an awesome rig. Its 4 cylinder, 5 speed (great on gas), single cab. My T100 is 3.4 auto extended cab. What do you guys think? Should I keep the T or swap with my neighbor to have my old pickup back?

personally, i'd rather have a pickup over the t100. t100 is basically a pickup/tacoma with a wider body and susp components to match the width. having little aftermarket support is a big deal when it comes to fixing your vehicle, that right there gives great reason to go with the PU. if you need a bigger truck in the future, get a 1st gen tundra. all this also depends on what the neighbor's done to your old truck that might make you hesitate - like lots of miles, not taking care of it, etc.

Nah the truck's still in great shape. Honestly he took better care of it than I did. I'm buying a powerstroke in June for when I need a bigger truck or need to have more than one person with me. The only thing that bothers me is the loss of power. I like being able to gain speed when I go uphill lol. Other than that though, I really don't see why I shouldn't just get pickup back.

Yeah, take the truck back. You don't really need to speed up on hills, do ya? (I know, I'm a little jealous when little hondas passs me uphill)
But I think I'd do pickup over the T. Well, I know I would.

I'd keep the T-100. It already has a 3.4, so no swap required, but especially because it's a lot more unique than the pickup. T-100s are getting harder and harder to find, but there will always be pickups around. Just my two pence.

I have a 1998 Sr5 3.4L 4x4. I'd keep the t100. For one, the T100 is more than "A widened pickup" Its a totally different truck. T100s are also extremely rare, you can get a toyota pickup anywhere. I'm not affected by the poor aftermarket support. all i plan to do thats non-stock is flares (found) bug shield (found). I want tubes, cant find any that are made for a t100, but i know that the ones that are designed for the 1st gen Tundra will fit my truck no problem. The t100 is also a beast off-road, even stock it rivals Defender 90s and older land cruisers. I also like it being large. Its not huge like a Dodge Ram, but it is Full-size size, and weighing 3 tons, its pretty beefy, far beefier than a pickup. Also, the T100 is probably the most indestructible truck ever built. Mine spent 12 years of its life in northern Minesota, and has ZERO rust (beside some surface rust on the rear axel, and miniture bubbles above the rear wheel whells.) I'm not hating on the Toyota Pickup, but id much rather a T100, 2wd or 4x4. I'd keep the T100.

Being almost at the end of bringing a T100 back from the brink of death and so very tempted to push it outside well away from the garage. Well you can think from there.
This truck came from upstate New York while the Body looked good Underneath it looked like it was parked in a Salt Pile for a few years. Then had done what was needed to be able to move.
This has to be a personal thing and your call but if it were me I would go with the 22rec in a regular pick up.
Now I love my 3.4 in the Tacoma but the T100 is so much heavier and the same engine. Plus finding parts can be a real pain.
Since you are going with the Power Stroke why have need of a underpowered T100 I have A 96 F250 7.3 that will run circles around the T100 and get half decent fuel mileage.
Good Luck what ever way you go.

I agree, the T100 weighs 6000lbs, which if im correct on a tacomas weight, the t100 weighs 2800 lbs more. I dont believe its underpowered, it gets me around nicely and a 0-60 time of 9.3 seconds is not that bad. I do agree it could have more power. As for the aftermarket support, it is poor if non existant. Parts are a pain to find, just try and find a t100 in a junkyard, youd even be hardpressed to find one in a toyota junkyard. Both trucks are great vehicles. It depends on what you plan to do, if you want to build a custom rig, get the pickup. But if your more interested in a truck that goes well on and off-road stock, more of a DD, keep the t100
