I'm new. I don't actually own a Yota yet, but I am looking and cannot wait to get one. There is a guy that has a rig, 1986 4runner, and wants to trade it for my street bike. I am new to all this so I am hoping you guys can shed some light on my hopes and dream.

The rig is on a Sacramento CL. The details are as follow:
Its a 1986 toyota 4runner with a 22re motor. 5 speed. the rear is 3 linked. has 37 inch wrangler tires. dual transfer cases. onboard air. rancho 5000 shocks. toyota axles geared with 5.29s and locked. new top. and bikini top. blue top altima battery. custom drivelines. bucket seats.cd player ipod hookup. runs great has a few scratches and couple dents nothin bad.

He is asking $5600. I belief it's SAS. Is it worth it?
And one thing that concerns me is the truck leans on corners... Is there anything that can be done to fix that?

 

I think you need pictures or something. A lot of variables no one can see.

The mileage on the truck is over 2xxxxx. is it too high?
Will I have problem driving the truck on the highway? It has no sway bar. I'm a little worry about body roll or leaning... I have to drive 100 miles home from where the truck is? How can I reduce or eliminate leaning if I do get the truck? I have been looking into quick disconnect but I cant find much information for the 1st gen 4runner. I apologize if Im asking too many noob question but I just want to get a good truck since it's going to be my first and not be a bad experience. Any tip/help will greatly be appreciate...

 

another thing is the truck has leaf spring in the front and coils for the rear. What is the better setup for the rear? I've seen people doing leafs for the rear. IMO, leafs springs looks more durable. I don't know about comfort and flexibility though...

That's what I'm thinking too. I think I'm going to pass on this one. Probably going to find something stock and do everything myself. Thanks for the help everyone.

 

yeah thats honestly the best way todo it. at least you know you did the work and know how to fix it if anything goes wrong.

I would not throw it out until a test drive. My 84 on 35tsl's doesnt look like it would be a daily driver, but I would drive it anywhere. Very reliable and it cruises out nicely. I did build mine so I know exactly what it has and that is nice to know.
