I want to get one of these and do a 4bt conversion. What do you think of the price on this one?

much better choice than that white 4runner. going to be a much better DD except for gas mileage, hehe. price-wise it looks about average for conditon and included goodies. he probably priced it on the high end and will negotiate down a smidge. only thing the rig is really missing is rock sliders to protect your rockers, a winch to fill that empty cradle, and a new driver.
as for the 4bt i cannot comment although i know it's been done many times. 1hz is also a popular diesel swap. both very reliable and you can't really go wrong, but pricey swap imo. i'd just rock the inline 6 for a while since it's so reliable for a gasser though i'd love to own a veggie oil burner someday.
can't really go wrong with a Cruiser. built to last in the harshest conditions. it's Toyota's flagship vehicle for a reason i love my 100-series and would pick up an 80 in a heartbeat if the wife let me.

GAS MILEAGE SUCKS. Thats really the only reason id swap. Not that id even have the money to do so working an emt in paramedic school. That also makes gas money a problem.
Would you say 175k miles is bad? Its probably got another 100k in it right?

theres one on ebay thats already swapped, im not a fan of a land cruiser but a cummins swap would be cool, why not just buy a soild rig and build it how you want instead of looking at stuff already built?

So are you actually going to buy one of these or are you just trolling?
In the future please post these questions in this section:

this type of questions do not belong in the tech section.
based on the 4Runner you were going to 'buy' your budget is about $10K?

1. That 80 series LC is too much truck for you. You will hurt yourself.
2. Repair and maint. cost are high for that truck.
3. I can guarantee you a 4BT swap is way over your skill set. If you pay for it, your looking at $10k +.
Your young and need to start off with something more managable like a plain jane truck or 4runner...or a jeep. Get your feet wet before you jump into the ocean.

i agree with everyone on this one
if that's your only reason, then you need to do WAY more homework on this especially if you think you're gonna be saving $. if you have no $ to put gas in your rig, then why are you even considering a $10k vehicle? a $3-4k pickup or 4runner and $6-7k in gas will go A LONG TIME, these aren't domestic vehicles built to self-destruct.

If you're just trying to find a good Toyota 4x4 then do what we all do, buy a stock 4runner with 31s and dented front bumper. That there is a good 4x4, just make sure it has a rip in drivers seat.

Lol devwon. Im one of the top students in my class and leader of my lab groups. I dont see how my EMS training has anything to do with my knowledge of toyotas.
As for an engine swap, if i somehow got my hands on one, i would have my dad do the swap.
Dropzone, yes i am looking to buy a toyota 4x4. I do have 10k to spend.
Lol a civic.
For the rest of you thanks for the advice.
