Busy's better than sick or broken down so I suppose that's good depending on how you look at it.

Update time again:

Almost have the motor done for the 84 pickup. All that I'm lacking is to install the exhaust manifold and install it in the truck. Current problem is the exhaust manifold I need to use is still in the parts truck, and it doesnt want to play nice. I'm letting it soak in some PB for a while and hopefully it will come willingly. On to some pics:

Nice new timing set installed (notice the double set ):

At first I cleaned up the wrong timing cover and got it ready to go, then realized it wouldnt fit. So found the right cover, cleaned it up, got it ready to go, and installed:

Sweet, I'll have to come & visit you when I suspect my 3.0 of needing major intrusions into the block *wink-wink*

Just kidding.

I have some news. The pickup has the motor in it, and it starts and runs (almost... carb needed rebuilt, got rebuilt, needs to be installed). The 4runner may be sold as is to a group who will convert it to an ambulance to use in a rural part of El Salvador. Will keep everyone posted!

Today some more progress was made with the 84 pickup. I finally got around to putting the carb on it. Started it up with the fuel pump pulling out of a 2.5 gallon can. Started right up and ran. So then I decided to up the ante and pour the fuel in the gas tank and see if it would start. Sure enough, started and ran. So I decided on a final wager, close the hood and take it for a spin. Well, its alive now. Drove good, but needed some power steering fluid and some other little odds and ends. The important thing is it runs and drives now. Now to tie up the few loose ends, drive it around a little to get the rings to seat (blowing a little smoke), and it should be golden! (i.e. for sale)

Well, got back to workin on the 4Runner. I got the interior reassembled in the truck and cleaned and shined it. Next up is pulling the motor out of my 87 which will be going into the 85 with the W56 and transfer, along with a new clutch install between trucks! Heres some pics (still got a little work to do in the interior, but its pretty much done now):

Given the fact its a 85 4Runner originally with a 22RE, as it sits, I'm asking 1700 with the parts truck and all the stuff needed to finish it. After I get it running and driving, probably around 3000 without the parts truck (slightly more with). To be honest, it all just depends on how I feel that day, and how much work I've put into it at the point of sale.

EDIT: parts truck is a 84 22R truck.

EDIT again: All proceeds will be used for the SAS and V8'ing of my 87.

Made some more progress with the Runner this weekend. Got some rims and tires installed... and got the tranny and transfer installed. Next up is clutch parts (replace the master and slave cylinders) then finish up any front wiring replacement and repairs, then install new clutch on the motor and install the motor, then driveshafts, then front axle, then brakes, then its time to drive! Heres some pics of the rims and tires. Right now I'm hoping to have it driveable by the middle of the month...

Update time again... It now has a motor and tranny with a new clutch out of my personal rig... I hate to give up my motor (its been really good to me), but I'm makin room for a V8. I havent gotten to starting it yet, but its 90% there. I've still got to throw a starter on it, connect the fuel line, put some gas in it, and it should be good. Then its time for a brake and clutch bleed and a test drive. I'm hoping to be driving it by Wednesday.
