Glad you had a good time! It was great having you along and I can't wait to see your Runner with a lift and some tires.
This trip was kind of an exploratory run at the area... but we found some really good spots for trail riding on our midnight run and on Sunday. So next time we won't waste too much time buzzing down gravel roads meeting locals that are pissed we're on their land. Unfortunately by the time we got around to those two runs John and I were the only vehicles.
I'm giving John the "Get 'er done" award for the trip because he took his basically stock truck (with his wife riding along!!!) anywhere I went. And made it through without body damage or breaking anything :bigclap:
Cory, good job organizing everyone. Though I still roll around on the floor laughing whenever I think of the fact your job title has "maintenance" in it :pat:

Thanks for the kind words, Hans.
I'll start a thread in the reports section tonight when I get home, and post up all the photos - granted, we didn't take very many, but it will give everybody a good idea about what's there. I'll also post notes on all the trails.

Good to hear you had fun Keith, glad you came... John, good work on the report. As soon as I compile everything to a electronic log, I'll send it to ya guys. Hans, yes my title has maintenence in it, but I can only maintain so many things at once, and unfortunately the truck was low on the list. Never fear fellow wheelers, It will be ready to go soon so I can go out, do some stupid stuff, and break it again!

So... should we start planning the next trip?
Hans, I dunno if I wanna pay that much to enter the competition... and since we'd all have to pay to go wheelin inside byrds, maybe just meet up at disney? OK, lets take a vote:
Disney or Byrds?
Disney is in Oklahoma, on the tip of grand lake; Byrds is in Cass, AR.

I'm going to Byrd's.... we can plan a trip to Disney another weekend though. There should be a lot of organized trail riding at Rocktoberfest. Or we could do our own unorganized running. People had started to complain it had become all about the competition so they assigned a guy to just set up trail riding. The competition is way back... looks like 9-3 on Saturday with only 4 events.
Check it out at www.rockcrawlers4x4.com
I also want to get down to Superlift sometime. There's a run in about 3 weeks, I may go down.

FYI, I will probably be going STL for a couple days sometime in the last week in October. Don't know the dates yet. Figured I might drive my truck (they pay milage) and it some trails on the way back, when I have more time to get home. I'll keep you posted on when that will be and we'll see if any of you wanna go run some trails at Cassville again. At the very least, I might stop back by the campsite at 1045 and look for the set of keys I lost...
Other than that, I probably won't be able to make anything until Feb or so next year - budget constraints & I want to try to make these tires last me another 6 months or so.
By the way, i have started a Cassville report thread...

Wheeling is cheap as long as you don't break anything....:pat:
Quick rundown of Rocktoberfest:
Starts Thursday October 26th at 9am.
Thursday does not have any organization, we're on our own to go play on the trails, obstacle courses, etc.
Friday has scheduled trail rides in the morning, afternoon, and night.
Saturday is the competition along with morning, afternoon, and night trail rides.
Sunday is like Thursday.... just a play day.
Registration for non-club members is $75, does NOT include camping, and allows entry for up to 4 people (spectator pass is $10 per day I believe). So if we get enough people to come it's only $35 for 4 days of wheeling (well, more like 3 as we plan on meeting up on Friday), which is VERY reasonable. They have some great trails and man-made courses. If I can convince Cory to come down between the two of us we'll have passes for 6 riders. I have two guys that say they're coming to ride, so we need 4 more.
So to paraphrase... if you're one of the first 6 people to commit you can give your $10 to Cory or I, and if we get more than 6 people to come, you can give your $10 to the event staff. And for those of you that have gone wheeling with us... you know how much we need the money to keep fixing our broke junk!
Actually... I'd rather you enter your vehicle, the more the merrier, but I realize not everyone is gung-ho about paying $75 to go wheeling. Now paying $10 to watch other people break their stuff... that's fun.

When/Where
There's so many different ones up there... which one are you talking about?
If it's one of the more hardcore places i might just drive up and ride along with someone.
Definetly interested in going, though.

Ok, the next trip is at Byrds Adventure center in Cass, AR. It will be Oct 27-29th ish... Exact date and times TBD.
Wheeling venues go from stock to built, so any truck can have some fun.
Hans you are having the ringleader hat passed off to you on this one. Sorry buddy, but you're in charge of organizing this event. Lemme know what I can do to help!.
John, you can always come and not wheel... ride along with one of us. If you still think you'll be back in my neck of the woods around late oct... lemme know the date, and we can go from there.

Also, can we nail down a date for the November trip? The November trip will be in Disney, OK at Hogan's off road park. Camping is like 7 bucks a rig (unlimited people per rig within reason) and wheeling is free all day and night.
Right now I'm thinking the weekend of November 17-19th. Any thoughts?

Rocktoberfest at Byrd's Oct. 26-29. www.rockcrawlers4x4.com
Well if I'm planning.... we'll all meet at my place on Wednesday and work on the truck. We should have it all blinged out by Friday and ready to wheel.
The event starts Thursday morning, I plan to be there Friday morning. But if enough people want to play I can be there by 5pm on Thursday. It costs $75 for a vehicle for the weekend, $10 per person for 1 day, $20 for the weekend. Let Cory and I know in advance if you want to come w/o a rig and for $10 we can get you in for the weekend... so that saves you $10.
So we got:
Hans - truck
Cory - truck
Vanessa - passenger
Keith - ?
Gary - Stock TJ
Gary's bro-in-law - passenger
?Guy in the Jeep?
?John?
?Brian?
?Others?
I need to check whether a vehicle gets 3 passenger passes or 4. I thought it was '3 + driver' but the reg. form makes it look like '4 + driver' So Cory, Gary and my rigs will get either 12 total or 15 total people in. But they'll only seat 11 at most. So bring some good walking shoes
Looks like we have 6 people committed right now, 2 vehicles with a couple more vehicles possible.
Cory's probably headed back Sunday morning... but I'll probably stay a bit if my truck is still driveable.
There is plenty of stuff to play on with a stock truck if you want, so no worries there.
Might want to think about camping arrangements for the night... it's a national forest around there, so that shouldn't be an issue. Byrd's has showers and stuff too, so you can even clean up before heading to camp. There might be a primitive cabin available, but I need to look into that... it may be packed already. Byrd's offers camping, but it's extra $.

November trip...
Earlier is better for me. I have a hunting trip the weekend of the 18th and remodeling kitchen stuff on the 25th.
11th would give us some recoup and repair time from Rocktoberfest. Though pending our rigs not breaking I don't see any issue with the 4th. Hell, I'll have 3 4x Yota's down here by that time, one of them ought to run.
I'm glad to see Cory has spares... that is impressively pro-active work for a management type
Maybe he'll get to wheel this trip!
