Question question about Intake silencer removal mod for the 96-97 3.4L...

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f130...engines-74837/

I have been wanting to do this mod for quite some time, and have been trying to look it over, maybe its just from a lack of sleep as ive been busy, but im confused as to why you need a 1.5" pvc cap, a 1"pvc cap, and also a .5" pvc cap, whats the deal with this?

yes, i have looked closer at that post, and i see it has more than one hole, however, on my 1996 T100 has only one black box further up on the intake towards the TB, it is totally different than any of the intake tubes i can find on here that bob has done the ISR mod to, i will try to get pics today of my intake, and maybe a few measurements as to how i will do this mod to my 1996 T100 3.4L V6....I AM CONFUSEDDD ON THIS ONE

I recently put on this air intake kit on my T100 very good price and it helps with the new bigger tires.

dude, just remove the silencer boxes, and plug them with whatever size cap you need. Drill, tap, and thread in some brass barbs to hook up the hoses and you should be good. It isn't rocket science.

Hahahahaha, that's great. Maybe he doesn't know how to turn a wrench. Some folks need more help then others.

IIRC, there is only one cap needed for the side of the box, the other ends connect to the large intake pipe. There is a small hose that needs to attach to the side cap for vacuum purposes.

Yeah I haven't looked mine over in a while. I think mine has two boxes. The large one, and a small one that has a couple vacuum connections to it.

IIRC, this mod is supposed to reduce turbulent flow through the air intake pipe and provide increased laminar flow to the TBI, thereby producing more power. I did this mod way back when and did not notice any difference, but its good to do if you want to start doing mods to your truck. Start with the air box mod and the next thing you know your doing a SAS!

It improves throttle response slightly and increases intake noise, as mentioned. With the deckplate mod open and all silencers removed, it will rattle your sinuses at WOT and 5K RPM, at least in normally aspirated configurations. With the SC'r it's a different story.
