FM transmitters are lame, they sound horrible. I only use direct ipod control through my aftermarket stereo

agreed. actully my new setup i wont even have a headunit. my ipod and Sirius will plug directly into the amp. that way i dont have to hack apart my dash putting in a new HU that i'll only use a volume control for my ipod.

I use a Pioneer direct digital connection. WAY better sound than any FM transmitter. FM transmitters only give you as good of reception as your stereo gets. You're missing great bass, crisp treble, etc...

I just run an FM modulator, hardwires it into the antenna jack.

Compressed music is missing something anyway so running it through an FM makes it even worse. I use a Belkin charger/preamp with a volume output control for the iPod to match the HU volume better. The cable from the HU plugs into the charger and then into the iPod.

Pretty soon I'm just going to go with the new Alpine HU that's just for the iPod (no cd) with a screen that mimics the iPod's.
