Alternator interchange? Anything else fit a 3.4?

I have a 3rd gen 4runner w/ a 3.4. Thanks to a earlier post I learned a have an 80 amp alternator.

I want more. I know about mralternator and other options that cost big $$. And frankly it's not worth that much to me even though I need it. How about another model toyota that is a straight bolt in upgrade.

4th gen w/ a 4.0 has a 135amp alternator. Does that fit?

Any other options?

Thanks

This might not be of much help, but the 3.0 alternator will work on a 3.4.

I had an upgraded one on the 3.0, that's why I kept it after my swap.

I have some details if your scroll down here:

That is helpful. That means if I come across a built up alternator for a 3.0 for a good deal I can use it.

Thanks

Why not just take yours off and take it to a local elec shop and have them rebuild it with more amps?

I don't know, certainly a possibility. Whats the going rate for a job like that?

I was thinking if one off a 4th gen works I could find one in a yard on the cheap.

You seen this for sale:

Might work for your application.

I had forgotten that I had a 3.0 plug on my harness, which is different than the 3.4 plug. You'd have to address that issue as well.

Thanks for pointing that out. That might be more than I can afford at this point but I do appreciate the link.

Mean Green's are the best you can get (I am pretty sure...) Though they sometimes take more green than give hehe.
