Total Rewire?
#1
Has anyone done a full rewire? I have a ton of wiring issues in my truck and am thinking I will just do a rewire. I would like to add a tech and found that in the 80's they had one. Just need to find a year and if the wiring I have will work. I also wanna add power windows, door locks, an alarm systems, and get the rear window tied in. If anyone has done this please let me know I would like some advice. Oh and anyone know if there is an easy way to do it

I am in process of doing this now, I will post a thread soon. So far so good, I bought a painless 20 ckt waterproof offroad harness. I have had to make some minor adjustments, but so far it is working out. It is not, however, a quick project. Also, what kind of truck do you have? My '79 is completely de-smogged now. When I bought it, I had to swap out a non-functional 20r for a new 22r motor before I could smog and register it... had to re-wire the ECM from scratch... and I REALLY don't recommend that unless you havequite a bit of experience.

I rewired my stock system for 2 reasons....I wasnt using the stock ECM (running aftermarket controller) or any of the that goes with it. Second wanted to upgrade the loom in places it was lacking...headlights,starting,charging mianly + a few AUX devices.
It is honeslty not that dificult, although it is time consuming and I wouldnt advise it if you are just trying to fix issues with the stock loom. Most of your time should be in planning...the stock areas of my loom was built around the toyota stock loom anyway to keep things simple.
