New Stereo Recommendations

I am looking in to getting a new stereo. Right now I have a sony 1992 special. Cd don't work, buttons are starting to not work.

I was looking at a pioneer DEH-P3000IB, pricey but its nice

I need and ipod interface for long trips, It needs to charge the ipod
CD player would be required, but if it was a good price, I'd go without
Price (looking under $80 shipped)

If anybody can come up with a radio that meets that bill, it'd be greatly appreciated.

I just put a JVC HD radio in my daily driver and have a slightly older JVC in my Toyota. I picked up the iPod adapter for them, just plug in the iPod and it'll control and charge it. Haven't had any issues with either since installing them. I wanted the iPod for use in the Toyota, where bumpy roads play heck with the CD changer I now have. With the iPod Nano, nothing mechanical inside to get banged around off-road.

I think good stereo brands are

-Pioneer
-Alpine
-JL audio
-Polk Audio
-Bose (duh..)
-THX (my friend has that for his computer WOW...)
-Roxford
-(not too sure about kenwood, heard good and bad...)

Thanks a ton for the help guys, all my friends seem to like pioneer. JVC seems good too and they tend to be cheaper. However, right now I do not have the funds to get the new head unit, it'll have to wait, but thats cool.

I was thinking about the jvc KD-G120R, any opinions?

With a JVC head unit, you need to make sure it has the aux. connector (J-link) for CD changers and other devices like iPod and Sat. Radio:

I don't know if you'll find a decent USB/Ipod capable head unit for under $80, but if you can fork it out the Pioneer DEH-6900UB just rocks. It will do both usb/ipod but the port is actually mounted on the back, so you can run the included USB extension to the glovebox where it's out of sight and safe from getting bumped around. I have this and infinity reference speakers all around. Thousand times better sound quality than stock, and no more burning CDs!
