led dash lights

I changed all my dash lights in my 1990 Toyota pickup to led. They look great the only problem I'm having is my dimmer switch does not seem to work. They don't dim they just turn off when I have it turned 3 quarters of the way down.
Does anybody have this problem as well or know of a way to fix it so I can dim my lights a little bit? Sometimes they are just a little too intense.

Quick Google search found this:

http://ask.metafilter.com/57312/Will...tches-dim-LEDs

seems led's are more straight forward in being either on or off and have a small voltage range for dimming. so when you turn the voltage down they just go off.

It has been suggested that they sell dimmers for led lights specifically although i do not know much on the subject.

Hope i helped a little and good luck

I noticed the same thing when I replaced the bulbs in the dash of my 89 pickup with LEDs. They wouldn't dim when I thought they would. BUT, when I swapped over to the SR5 cluster I swapped the LED bulbs over too and now they dim! I have no idea why it did that, but I'm glad it did. What gauge cluster do you have? Maybe it's something to do with the cluster itself.

some dim, others do not, not sure what the difference is; the wiring or the LED choice?

I've read others claiming that the dimmer works with their LED dash lights.

my turn signals are the last haligan bulb left besides the headlights on my taco and one just went out, need to get the load equalizer and convert them..

I do know the led's in my car do dim (had to be euro-code friendly)...Truck I will be doing the interior & visor in a couple weeks once I order the rest from superbrightleds.com or jdmtoy. Only have converted the turn signals so far
